Job description

Bryant & Stratton College, Hampton Roads Market is seeking a Financial Aid Advisor. The Financial Aid Advisor is responsible for advising and assisting current and prospective students with all aspects of financial aid. This includes accurately and efficiently advising, packaging, and awarding students their financial aid.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
  • Assist Financial Aid Manager in preparation and submission of all audits.
  • Participate in the financial aid portion of orientation, registration, graduation and other events as required.
  • Track and monitor student awards to ensure funds are accurately received on a timely basis.
  • Follow up with students on any missing or inaccurate information.
  • Adhere to all Federal and State Financial Aid Guidelines.
  • Process VA certifications.
  • Keep the VA informed of the enrollment status of Veterans and other eligible persons. Use basic forms to keep the VA informed, such as: Enrollment Certification (VA Form 22-1999 submitted via Enrollment Manager) to report required enrollment information, Notice of Change in Student Status (VA Form 22-1999b submitted via Enrollment Manager) to report changes to enrollment information.
  • Monitor subjects pursued by a student and certify to VA only those subjects that apply to their program. Monitor grades to ensure satisfactory progress is being made. Report when a student is terminated due to unsatisfactory progress. Monitor student conduct and report when student is suspended or dismissed, assist with the completion of out-processing of graduates and withdrawn students, and any other related documentation and certification for VA students & Voc. Rehab.
  • All other duties required by manager.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Associate's Degree
  • Previous Financial Aid experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work with a diverse group, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong computer skills required in Microsoft, Word, and Excel. Working knowledge of Banner helpful.
