What are finance systems?

Finance systems refer to the software and processes that organizations use to manage their financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, reporting, and compliance activities. These systems help automate and streamline financial tasks, improve accuracy, and enable better decision-making through real-time data analysis. Common examples include enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, accounting platforms, and financial planning tools. Professionals working in finance systems are responsible for implementing, maintaining, and optimizing these technologies to support an organization’s financial health.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in finance systems, and why are they important?

To excel in Finance Systems, you need a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis, and information systems, often supported by a degree in finance, accounting, or information technology. Familiarity with ERP platforms like SAP, Oracle Financials, or Workday, as well as relevant certifications such as CPA, CFA, or specific ERP certifications, is highly valued. Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and project management skills help professionals collaborate effectively and translate business needs into technical solutions. These capabilities are crucial for maintaining accurate financial data, streamlining processes, and supporting strategic decision-making within organizations.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in finance systems, and how can they be effectively managed?

Professionals in Finance Systems often encounter challenges such as integrating new financial technologies with legacy systems, ensuring data accuracy across multiple platforms, and adapting to frequent regulatory changes. Addressing these issues typically involves regular communication with IT and finance teams, ongoing training on new tools, and implementing robust data validation processes. Staying proactive and agile helps professionals in this role maintain smooth operations and contribute to continuous process improvements.

Job description

ABOUT THE TEAM

This role sits on the Finance Transformation Team, which has two pillars: Finance PMO & Technology/Systems - this role sits under the Technology/Systems pillar. Finance Transformation was formed to streamline, simplify and optimize our finance & accounting systems and associated processes, enabling Finance to strategically drive the business with timely and accurate data.

ABOUT THE JOB

We are seeking a visionary and execution-focused Director of Finance Systems to architect, scale, and lead the future of Anduril's financial systems ecosystem. In this role, you will own the global Finance and Accounting systems roadmap, driving automation, data integrity, and operational efficiency across the business. You will eliminate manual processes, unlock predictive forecasting capabilities, and build a robust data foundation. This is a highly cross-functional role requiring tight partnership with Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, Enterprise Applications, and Data Engineering teams. If you thrive in high-growth, high-complexity environments and are passionate about building scalable, modern enterprise architecture, we want to hear from you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Drive the Strategic Roadmap: Architect, own, and execute a multi-year Finance Systems roadmap that supports Anduril's rapid global scaling.
  • Accelerate FP&A Automation: Lead the design and deployment of automated forecasting, budgeting, and planning processes within Oracle EPM, shifting the FP&A team from data manipulation to strategic analysis.
  • Own Finance Data Strategy & MDM: Define and drive the strategy for Finance Data Warehousing and Master Data Management (MDM). Establish a "single source of truth" for financial data to enable real-time, executive-level decision-making.
  • Modernize the Systems Stack: Continuously evaluate, innovate, and optimize Anduril's F&A systems stack (ERP, EPM, Billing, Tax, Treasury) to ensure we are leveraging cutting-edge automation.
  • Optimize Core Workflows: Enhance and streamline end-to-end global workflows including Record-to-Report (R2R), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), and Order-to-Cash (O2C) across GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, and Cash Management.
  • Partner and Influence: Collaborate deeply with Supply Chain and Manufacturing Finance to ensure tight integration between ERP inventory/cost accounting modules and physical manufacturing realities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10+ years of experience owning enterprise systems strategy, with a deep functional understanding of Finance & Accounting processes.
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale enterprise systems implementations (e.g., ERP, EPM) from inception to post-go-live optimization.
  • Deep systems expertise across the following tech stack:
    • ERP: Oracle Fusion Cloud (specifically GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Cash Management, and Cost Accounting).
    • EPM: Oracle EPM Cloud (FCCS, ARCS).
    • CRM: Salesforce
    • Data/BI: Experience leveraging BI and Data Warehousing tools (e.g., Databricks, Foundry) to build financial data pipelines.
  • Manufacturing Experience: Demonstrated experience supporting financial systems in a large-scale, complex hardware manufacturing or aerospace & defense environment.
  • Process Mastery: Deep domain knowledge of core transactional flows (PTP, OTC, RTR) and how they impact the general ledger and financial reporting.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, or a related technical/field.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in Government Contracting (GovCon) environments, including familiarity with CAS (Cost Accounting Standards) and FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation) compliance requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL, Python, or data integration tools for financial reporting.
  • Experience transitioning a high-growth company from localized systems to a consolidated global ERP instance.
