Job description

Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Financial Analyst / Grant Accountant to manage financial reporting, ledger reconciliations, and comprehensive post-award grant administration. In this role, you will work closely with the Finance & Grants Manager to ensure strict compliance with accounting standards, maintain audit readiness, and provide critical financial insights and training to internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze financial information, plans, projections, and reports in accordance with standard accounting guidelines.
  • Create and execute journal entries to correct misposted items and perform routine account reconciliations to guarantee financial data integrity.
  • Examine financial reports for consistency, accuracy, and compliance, collaborating with research teams and leadership to resolve errors and prevent future occurrences.
  • Assist the Finance & Grants Manager with monthly and annual fiscal closing cycles, including the preparation of supporting schedules.
  • Coordinate active grant management activities, including interim and final close-out financial reporting, award modifications, amendments, no-cost extensions, re-budgeting, and carry-over requests.
  • Support preparation for grant audits by compiling, organizing, and maintaining transparent digital recordkeeping of all financial documentation.
  • Draft clear financial reports and data summaries for internal stakeholders and provide technical accounting guidance across departments.
  • Prepare and present training materials related to financial processes as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, combined with 2 to 4 years of professional financial analysis or grant accounting experience.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial management software systems; strong working knowledge of general ledger reconciliations and journal entry preparation.
  • Grant Management: Prior experience administering post-award grant activities, managing financial compliance, and supporting audit requests is highly preferred.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent organizational abilities, clear verbal and written communication skills, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving and cross-departmental training.
