Job description

Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney (4–6 Years)

Direct Counsel is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney to join a highly respected Am Law firm. This is an exciting opportunity to join a nationally recognized Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice, working on complex, high-stakes matters in a collaborative and dynamic environment.

This role is based in Northern California, with opportunities in San Francisco or Oakland, and is ideal for a mid-level associate looking to deepen their experience handling sophisticated commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution.

Responsibilities
  • Handle all phases of commercial litigation, from initial case assessment through trial and appeal
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, briefs, pleadings, and motions
  • Manage and execute discovery, including document review, written discovery, and depositions
  • Prepare complex case analyses and litigation strategies
  • Collaborate with partners, clients, expert witnesses, and opposing counsel
  • Participate in hearings, depositions, and trial preparation
Qualifications
  • 4–6 years of complex litigation experience, preferably in a law firm setting
  • Strong academic credentials and excellent legal writing skills
  • Experience managing cases and interacting directly with clients and opposing counsel
  • Deposition and court experience preferred
  • Experience or interest in financial services, securities litigation, or insurance-related matters is a plus
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Licensed and in good standing with the California Bar
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary range: $280,000 – $345,000, depending on experience and location
