Job description

Real Estate Litigation Associate
NYC - $220,000 - $250,000
We're looking for a Real Estate Litigation Associate with 5+ years of experience to join a leading real estate law firm in New York City. This is a great opportunity for an experienced litigator who wants sophisticated work, meaningful client contact, and a long-term career with a stable, highly regarded firm.
The Role
You'll represent commercial landlords, owners, and developers in complex real estate disputes in New York state and federal courts. You'll have the opportunity to manage matters with significant independence while working alongside an experienced litigation team.
Handling cases from discovery through trial, arbitration, or settlement
Drafting and arguing dispositive and non-dispositive motions
Taking and defending depositions
Managing discovery, e-discovery, and document productions
Preparing witnesses for hearings, depositions, and trial
Handling commercial landlord-tenant disputes, lease enforcement, contract and construction disputes, and other real estate litigation
Negotiating practical, business-focused settlements
Developing client relationships and, where applicable, building a book of business
What We're Looking For
5+ years of real estate litigation experience; exceptionally strong four-year candidates may be considered
Admission to the New York State Bar and in good standing
Experience representing commercial landlords, owners, or developers
Strong knowledge of New York civil practice and procedure
Excellent legal writing and advocacy skills
Experience with e-discovery and complex document productions
Experience at a recognized real estate or litigation-focused firm is a plus
Prior real estate industry experience, such as property management or brokerage, is highly valued
Two unredacted writing samples required
We're particularly interested in attorneys who have built their careers with stability and purpose. Frequent moves or multiple short tenures will require explanation, although legitimate circumstances such as mergers or partner moves will absolutely be considered.
Compensation & Work Arrangement:
$220,000-$250,000 base salary, depending on experience and value
1,800 billable-hour requirement
Compensation is not lockstep, and the firm is open to negotiating for the right candidate
NYC-based, with a hybrid schedule of three days in the office
Candidates with a $500K+ portable book of business may also be considered for a Member/Partner-level opportunity.
If you're an experienced real estate litigator looking for sophisticated work, strong client exposure, and a firm where attorneys tend to build long careers, we'd like to hear from you.
