Job description

Consumer Finance Litigation Associate (2-5 Years) — Texas Offices

Locations: Houston • Dallas • Austin • San Antonio

Team: Financial Services & Capital Markets – Consumer Finance Litigation

Bar Admission: Active Texas Bar (or immediate eligibility for admission/waiver)

About the Role

A national Am Law firm seeks a mid-level Consumer Finance Litigation Associate to defend leading banks, mortgage servicers, fintechs, and non-bank lenders in high-stakes individual and class-action matters. You’ll collaborate with a deep bench of trial lawyers while managing cases in federal and state courts across Texas and the Fifth Circuit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle all phases of consumer-finance disputes under FDCPA, FCRA, TCPA, TILA, RESPA, ECOA, UDAAP, and related statutes
  • Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, and briefs in federal and state courts; argue motions when appropriate
  • Manage discovery, including written requests, ESI, depositions, and expert coordination
  • Develop litigation strategies, settlement positions, and trial themes in partnership with senior counsel and clients
  • Supervise paralegals and junior associates on discovery and factual investigation tasks
  • Maintain clear, proactive communication with sophisticated in-house counsel and business stakeholders

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 2-5 years of litigation experience with a clear focus on consumer-finance statutes or financial-services disputes
  • Proven federal-court practice: drafting motions to dismiss/summary judgment, removal/remand strategy, class-action briefs, or MDL work
  • Working knowledge of CFPB rules, OCC/FDIC guidance, or state AG consumer-protection actions is a plus
  • Exceptional legal writing, analytical, and oral-advocacy skills; Law Review or judicial clerkship welcome but not required
  • Strong project-management instincts and the ability to handle multiple active dockets under tight deadlines
  • Commitment to client service, collaboration, and the firm’s diversity, equity, and inclusion goals

Why Join Us

  • Immediate courtroom exposure and client contact with nationally recognized consumer-finance litigators
  • Competitive compensation, merit-based bonuses, and comprehensive benefits (health, dental, vision, 401(k) match, wellness stipend)
  • Robust professional-development programs, CLE support, and a clearly defined advancement track
  • Flexible hybrid-work options tied to your chosen Texas office

How to Apply

Send your résumé, law-school transcript, and a recent writing sample (preferably a dispositive motion or federal brief) to our legal recruiting team with “TX Consumer Finance Litigator” in the subject line. Qualified candidates will be contacted promptly for a confidential interview.
