Finance Analyst Rotational Program information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a finance analyst rotational program participant, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Finance Analyst Rotational Program, you need strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of financial principles, and typically a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. Proficiency with Excel, financial modeling software, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems like SAP or Oracle is often required. Exceptional communication, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities help you stand out as you rotate through various business units. These skills ensure effective analysis, clear reporting, and smooth collaboration across departments, which are critical for contributing value during each rotation.

What types of projects and departments will I typically rotate through in a finance analyst rotational program?

In a Finance Analyst Rotational Program, you'll usually rotate through several core finance departments such as financial planning and analysis (FP&A), corporate accounting, treasury, internal audit, and sometimes business operations or strategy. Each rotation lasts a few months and exposes you to different financial functions, allowing you to develop a broad skill set and gain insight into how finance supports various business units. This structure provides a comprehensive understanding of the company’s financial operations and helps you identify areas where you might want to specialize in the future. Collaboration is common, as you'll work with cross-functional teams, senior finance leaders, and occasionally participate in high-impact company projects.

What is a finance analyst rotational program?

Participants rotate through multiple departments or business units within a company, such as corporate finance, financial planning and analysis, treasury, and accounting. This structure allows analysts to gain broad exposure to different financial functions, develop diverse skill sets, and identify potential career paths within the organization. The program typically lasts 18-36 months and often includes mentorship, training, and networking opportunities to support career growth.

Job description

About Boomerang Healthcare:

Injured workers in California are caught in one of the most complicated systems in American healthcare. The Workers' Compensation system can be slow, fragmented, and often more focused on managing claims than restoring people's lives. Boomerang Healthcare exists to change that outcome.

We operate 20+ clinical locations across California, providing specialized care for injured workers – from pain management clinics to Functional Restoration Programs (FRPs). FRPs are one of the most evidence-based, outcomes-driven treatment models in Workers' Compensation: a multidisciplinary approach to chronic pain and disability focused on restoring function to injured workers.

It's a genuinely complex business – managing multidisciplinary clinical care teams, navigating specialized payor and network dynamics, and scaling a multi-site platform in a state with its own rules for almost everything.

We're private equity-backed and in growth mode: expanding locations and service lines, deepening our payor and network partnerships, and building the finance and operational infrastructure to support the next stage of our company. The team is lean, the problems are real, and the work shows up in decisions that matter.

If you want to develop finance expertise in multi-site healthcare, have ownership over work that C-level leaders depend on to set the direction of the business, and work alongside a team that takes the craft of financial analysis seriously – this is the right environment for that.

The Role:

As Strategic Finance Analyst / Senior Analyst, you will design, build and present high-visibility, cross-functional analyses that drive how C-level leaders allocate capital, grow revenue and drive long-term value creation.

You will lead high priority strategic initiatives spanning service line strategy, payor / network strategy and investment opportunities – including evaluation of de novo expansion, joint ventures and acquisitions. This is a largely greenfield role, with high-value questions that need answering. The ideal candidate is analytically sharp, capable of navigating ambiguity, and energized by taking ownership of blank-canvas problems.

*This is a remote role. We are only hiring in the following states: AZ, CA, NM, NV, OR, TX and WA.

What you will do:

Service Line Strategy

  • Evaluate the viability of new service line additions, including demand forecasts, incremental cost structures, and investment return
  • Identify coverage gaps and other opportunities to expand existing service lines to underserved locations
  • Determine the optimal feature set for the rehabilitation service lines – identifying where program complexity adds cost without driving payor value, and recommending design changes that improve unit economics while maintaining clinical outcomes and competitive positioning

Payor & Network Strategy

  • Evaluate patient economics – including reimbursement rates, authorization patterns, service line utilization and contribution margin – to identify which payor relationships and referral channels to prioritize
  • Build models to support payor contracting – quantifying the financial value of our programs and determining optimal pricing structures
  • Evaluate the ROI of existing marketing and referral strategies to identify where business development investment is generating returns and where it should be reallocated

Investment Analysis & Modeling

  • Build three-statement financial models to evaluate de novo expansion and new market entry
  • Model joint venture structures, including patient volume projections and deal economics
  • Evaluate acquisition targets – analyzing cost structures, provider compensation, valuation and projected returns

Process Improvement

  • Identify and execute opportunities to improve strategic finance processes
  • Develop and adopt best practices for integration of AI tools into financial workflows

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of strategic finance, investment banking, management consulting, corporate strategy, corporate development, transaction advisory, private equity, venture capital or FP&A experience
  • Comfortable operating at the intersection of finance and strategy – able to structure a problem, build the analysis, and communicate the recommendation
  • High intellectual curiosity; proactively identifies the right questions, not just answers to questions asked
  • Analytically sharp; capable of navigating ambiguity and energized by owning blank-canvas problems
  • Excel: Able to build financial models that are clean, dynamic and maintainable by others
  • PowerPoint: Able to distill complex analyses into clear, concise presentations for executive leadership, the board, and the private equity sponsor

Compensation Range:

$80,000.00 to $138,00.00 Annually

All compensation ranges are posted based on internal equity, job requirements, experience, and geographical locations.

Why You'll Love Working Here:

  • Amazing work/life balance
  • Generous Medical, Dental, Vision, and Prescription benefits (PPO & HMO)
  • 401(K) Plan with Employer Matching
  • License & Tuition Reimbursements
  • Paid Time Off
  • Holiday Pay & Floating Holiday
  • Employee Perks and Discount Programs
  • Supportive environment to help you grow and succeed
