Job description

The Filler Operator is an important part of our production floor. The Operator runs and maintains fillers in a continuous flow vat to process milk, cream, and other dairy products, following specific methods and formulas. As a Filler Operator, you will be responsible for the quality, food safety, and product specifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Clean, set up, operate, and monitor filler equipment.
  • Complete all required quality checks and documentation.
  • Collect the required samples needed for Quality Assurance testing.
  • Monitor weights, seals, caps, and general packaging of the product.
  • Make adjustments to filler timing and filling; check vat as needed.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate operating difficulties.
  • Perform filler equipment and filler line changeovers for the next run safely.
  • Working knowledge with wrapper operations; watch for jams and effectively thread product wrap.
  • Complete the cleaning checklist once the line has completed the run.
  • Follow all sanitation and quality policies and procedures and report any deficiencies.
  • Ensure that the proper packaging materials are used for each product being produced.
  • Responsible for adhering to food safety and quality system requirements by committing to meet all pertinent regulatory, customer, and SQF requirements.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • One or two years of related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Experience analyzing and troubleshooting process data and equipment performance.
  • Data to improve quality and throughput.
  • Basic math competency required to perform calculations.
  • Overtime and working on holidays are often required.
  • Experience within the food and beverage industry preferred.
  • Minimum age: 18
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and physical exam.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

  • May be required to lift, carry, lower 1-50lbs from a height of approximately seven feet to the ground and back continually for the duration of the shift.
  • Must be able to work in both very hot (more than 100 degrees) and very cold (less than 20 degrees
  • below zero) and in a very wet and humid environment for extended periods of time. Exposed to noise/vibration, and chemicals.
  • Required to Stand, walk, climb, bend, twist, push and pull, and reach at, above and below the shoulder.
  • Repetition-Hand/Wrist Simple Grasping, Firm grasping.
