The AI Product's Data Science org is at the center of the next generation of products at Figma, spanning Make, Figma Agent, Design Systems, and other areas. Data is critical to setting strategy and measurement across these areas. This org engages closely with AI Research and is a driving force behind our evals work and the future of product measurement at scale. With a charge to uplevel Figma's use of data, the team works alongside other Data Scientists and Engineering to identify ways to implement and democratize new statistical methods, build data frameworks, and incorporate data within Figma's product development process. This team contributes to the company's goals by collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, and our finance team to uncover new opportunities, identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements through data-driven insights.
As Director, you will lead a team of data scientists and managers, setting the vision for how data shapes strategy across Figma's AI products. You'll work closely with Product, Engineering, Design, and Research leadership to embed data-driven thinking and modern AI-product measurement into how we build.
This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.
What you'll do at Figma:
  • Lead, support, and grow a team of data scientists and data science managers with varied strengths and expertise focused on product strategy, internal tooling, and Impact measurement
  • Champion data quality, accessibility, and the democratization of data across the company
  • Establish trust within and across teams by creating accountability and a positive work environment in partnership with other leaders in the organization
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Design, Research, Sales, Marketing, or Finance to drive impact
  • Shape how we measure AI products: evals, quality, and experimentation for LLM-powered assistants and agents in partnership with AI Research

We'd love to hear from you if you have:
  • 8+ years of experience managing and leading high output Data Science teams, with at least 2 years managing other managers
  • 7+ years of experience working in AI, Data Science, or a related field
  • Proven experience building or measuring AI products, ideally LLM-powered assistants, agents, chatbots, or copilots
  • Demonstrated expertise in statistical methods, experimentation, and/or forecasting, with the technical curiosity to learn and grow alongside your team
  • Ability to scale teams in high-growth environments, with a desire to build an inclusive and diverse culture
While not required, it's an added plus if you also have:
  • Experience owning 0 to 1 product areas

Pay Transparency Disclosure
Job level and actual compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process (including skills and prior relevant experience, potential impact, and scope of role), market demands, and specific work location.
Figma offers equity to employees, as well as a competitive package of additional benefits, including health, dental, and vision coverage; retirement benefits with company contributions; parental leave and reproductive or family planning support; mental health and wellness benefits; and paid time off. Figma provides paid sick leave, holidays, and other leave benefits in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, including the requirements of the Washington Minimum Wage Act and related regulations. Exempt employees are eligible for employer-provided paid flexible PTO in addition to flexible paid sick leave. PTO is subject to manager approval. Additional benefits may include company recharge days, cell phone and home internet reimbursements, and a number of lifestyle spending accounts. Figma also offers sales incentive compensation for most sales roles and an annual bonus plan for eligible non-sales roles. All compensation and benefits are subject to applicable plan terms and may be modified by Figma at any time, consistent with applicable law.
Annual Base Salary Range:
$290,000-$376,000 USD
