How much do fifo hospitality jobs pay per hour?

As of Aug 16, 2026, the average hourly pay for fifo hospitality in the United States is $18.82, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $17.79 and $20.19 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is it like working on a FIFO hospitality roster?

Working in FIFO Hospitality typically means being assigned to a roster where you fly to a remote site for a set period (such as two weeks on, one week off) before returning home. During your work rotation, you will live onsite, providing hospitality services like cleaning, catering, or facilities support to workers and guests, often in mining camps or similar environments. The team environment is supportive but fast-paced, requiring flexibility and a positive attitude. FIFO roles offer the chance to develop specialized skills and progress into leadership positions, but adapting to remote living and maintaining work-life balance can be challenging for some.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in FIFO hospitality, and why are they important?

To thrive in a FIFO Hospitality role, you need experience in hospitality services such as food and beverage, housekeeping, or accommodation management, often supported by relevant certificates like RSA or Food Safety. Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment, point-of-sale (POS) systems, and compliance with safety and hygiene regulations is essential. Strong interpersonal skills, teamwork, resilience, and the ability to adapt to remote and dynamic environments make you stand out. These skills are vital to maintain high service standards and ensure the well-being of guests and team members in remote, fly-in fly-out settings.

What is a FIFO hospitality?

A FIFO (Fly-In Fly-Out) Hospitality job involves working in remote locations, such as mining sites or isolated resorts, where employees fly to the job site for a set period before returning home for their scheduled time off. These roles can include chefs, cleaners, kitchen hands, and catering staff. Employers typically provide flights, accommodation, and meals. FIFO hospitality jobs offer competitive salaries but require adaptability to demanding work schedules and extended time away from home.

How do I become a FIFO hospitality worker?

To become a FIFO hospitality worker, you typically need relevant hospitality or customer service experience, a valid driver's license, and sometimes a Working with Children or RSA certification depending on the role. Many employers also require a police clearance and the ability to work flexible or remote schedules in remote locations. Gaining experience in food service, bar work, or accommodation services can improve your chances of securing FIFO roles.

  • Stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, and climb throughout the shift.
  • Push and pull carts, dollies, and inventory throughout the restaurant.
  • Work in varying temperatures, including walk-in coolers and freezers.
  • Must be able to move safely through kitchen areas, including slick floors, hot surfaces, sharp tools, and tight spaces.
