Job Summary The Field Verification Engineer conducts systematic field walkdowns at company facilities to verify installed assets, equipment tagging, and flow paths against approved engineering documentation such as P&IDs, Plot Plans, Area Classification drawings, and Lease Flow Diagrams. The role involves capturing field data, identifying discrepancies between design documents and actual site conditions, and producing redlined drawings, asset registers, and supporting deliverables to ensure accurate as-built documentation. It also requires coordination with site personnel and timely reporting of findings to support documentation updates and data validation efforts. Job Description
  • Conduct systematic field walkdowns at designated facilities to physically verify installed assets, layouts, and flow paths against approved engineering documentation, including P&IDs, Plot Plans, Area Classification drawings, and Lease Flow Diagrams.
  • Verify the physical presence, tagging, and representation of major equipment, instruments, control valves, and PSVs shown on P&IDs, and identify any missing, additional, or undocumented assets observed at site.
  • Perform visual reasonableness checks of Plot Plans and Area Classification drawings to confirm inclusion of major equipment, correctness of tagging, and logical layout, spacing, and routing; no physical measurements shall be performed.
  • Capture verified equipment metadata directly from permanent metal nameplates affixed to equipment to support accurate asset register and PSV data population.
  • Document all discrepancies between approved documentation and actual installed field conditions using approved red line / blue line markup practices on AutoCAD and/or PDF drawings.
  • Perform field verification of Lease Flow Diagrams to confirm actual flow paths, major equipment connectivity, and routing logic, and capture all deviations through structured red line markups.
  • Record supporting field information, including equipment identification details, configuration data, and clarification inputs required to enable accurate back office document updates.
  • Capture photographic references of equipment, tag numbers, and nameplates, where permitted, to support traceability and downstream data validation.
  • Coordinate with facility operators and designated Vendor representatives during site activities to obtain access, clarify queries, validate observations, and address specific walkdown information requests.
  • Consolidate all field observations, red lined drawings, photographs, and captured data into structured deliverables to support as is documentation updates.
  • Deliver populated Asset Register and PSV templates (Excel), red lined Plot Plans, Area Classification drawings, and Lease Flow Diagrams, along with a consolidated summary of tagging discrepancies, missing information, and resolution status. Asset register will include the nameplate data captured during the site verification. Reviewing the EM/vendor manuals, EDMS records or any open source information is considered as out of scope for this proposal.
  • Provide periodic progress updates and timely responses to clarification requests throughout the deputation period.
Skills Required
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering documentation including P&IDs, Plot Plans, Area Classification drawings, and Lease Flow Diagrams
  • Field verification and walkdown experience in industrial or oil & gas facilities
  • Knowledge of mechanical and process equipment identification, including tags, instruments, control valves, and PSVs
  • Attention to detail in identifying discrepancies between design documents and actual field conditions
  • Ability to perform visual assessment and logical validation of layouts, spacing, and flow paths (without measurements)
  • Experience in capturing and validating equipment nameplate data for asset registers
  • Proficiency in redlining/markups using AutoCAD and PDF editing tools
  • Strong documentation and technical reporting skills for field observations and deviations
  • Ability to compile structured deliverables including asset registers, PSV templates, and marked-up drawings
  • Basic understanding of process flow systems and facility operations
  • Strong coordination and communication skills for working with site operators and client/vendor representatives
  • Ability to manage field data collection, including photos, tags, and supporting evidence for traceability
  • Organizational skills for consolidating large volumes of field data into clear, actionable outputs
  • Responsiveness and ability to provide timely updates and handle clarification requests during field assignments
