Job description

Description

General Summary:  Commissions and services Alkar product lines. Conducts on-site customer operational and maintenance equipment training and start-up. 


Principal Accountabilities:

  • Services Alkar product lines. Documents all service-related activities.
  • Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or detailed plans to perform testing, checkout modifications and troubleshooting on Alkar equipment.
  • Assists Controls Department in modifying and servicing custom PLC control systems.
  • Assists in developing methods or actions to remedy malfunctions for Alkar product lines.
  • Conducts on-site customer training including proper operational and equipment maintenance procedures of equipment.
  • Prepares reports for analysis of product failure trends and service issues.
  • Download and configure programs for HMI and PLC systems
  • Assign and update system IP addresses
  • Configure VFD parameters within control programs
  • Copy, package, and distribute programs to Alkar for implementation
  • Performs additional assignments as requested by Service Manager.

Areas Supervised: 

  • None.

Scope Data (budget accountability, operating revenues, organizational unit responsibility, number of employees supervised, other pertinent numeric data):

  • Interacts directly with customers. 
  • Services seven to eight different Alkar product lines. 
  • Carries out assignments that vary from semi-routine to complex in nature with minimal immediate supervision.

Description of physical working environment:

  • Regularly works from a sitting or standing position while working on computers.
  • When traveling may encounter working areas in both refrigerated and heated environments 
  • Ability to occasionally lift 50 pounds or more with proper assistance and/or rigging equipment.
  • Extensive Domestic and International Travel is required



Requirements

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Two-year associate degree in Industrial Maintenance or related technical training.
  • Minimum of three to four years trouble-shooting experience in manufacturing equipment including commissioning and field service experience.
  • Good analytical and problem solving, verbal and written communication skills along with interpersonal skills to work effectively with customers. 
  • Previous experience with air balance, temperature control or commissioning of gas heated equipment is helpful.
