Field Service Engineer - Mechanical (Rotating Equipment)

As a Mechanical Field Service Engineer, you will perform installation, commissioning, inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and overhaul of rotating equipment at customer sites.

Depending on your expertise, you will specialize in one or more of the following domains:

  • Centrifugal Compressors

  • Heavy Duty Gas Turbines

  • Aeroderivative Gas Turbines

  • Steam Turbines

You will serve as the primary technical representative on site, ensuring safe, high quality, and timely execution while maintaining strong collaboration with customers and internal stakeholders.

As a Field Service Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Executing installation, precommissioning, commissioning, and maintenance of rotating equipment and associated auxiliaries.

  • Performing precision mechanical tasks including alignment, leveling, torqueing, dimensional checks, and assembly/disassembly.

  • Diagnosing mechanical issues and collaborating with technical support teams to define corrective actions.

  • Leading customer communication, site planning, daily coordination, and supervision of craft labor/subcontractors.

  • Preparing accurate Field Service Reports, daily logs, punch lists, and technical documentation.

  • Ensuring full compliance with QHSE requirements, including JSAs, toolbox talks, LOTO, and PermittoWork processes.

Examples of Specialized Responsibilities

Centrifugal Compressors

  • Conducting minor/major inspections (couplings, bearings, seals, diaphragms, volutes).

  • Performing alignment, leveling, and troubleshooting of compressor and auxiliary systems.

HeavyDuty Gas Turbines

  • Executing CI, HGPI, MI inspections; conduct laser alignments and borescope inspections.

  • Leading installation/erection and commissioning of turbine packages and auxiliaries; implement NICs/TILs.

Aeroderivative Gas Turbines

  • Performing L2/L3 inspections and Hot Section Exchanges (HSE).

  • Leading installation, maintenance, and commissioning of aero turbine packages and auxiliaries.

Steam Turbines

  • Leading installation, inspections, and overhaul of steam turbines and auxiliaries.

  • Performing casing splits, seal and bearing inspections, rotor alignment, and major mechanical adjustments.

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have engineering Degree (preferred) or Technical Diploma in Mechanical or related discipline.

  • Have minimum 5 years of field experience in rotating equipment installation, inspection, or maintenance.

  • Have specialization in one or more technologies:

i) Compressors (e.g., BCL, MCL series)

ii) HDGT (Frame 5, Frame 7)

iii) Aeroderivative GT (LM2500, LM6000, LMS100)

iv) Steam Turbines

  • Have ability to interpret mechanical drawings and follow OEM procedures.

  • Be proficiency with precision tools (laser alignment, borescope, micrometers, dial indicators).

  • Have experience executing upgrades, NICs/TILs, or mechanical modifications.

  • Have strong communication, leadership, and customerfacing skills.

  • Show demonstrated commitment to safety and procedural compliance.

  • Show availability to travel extensively (70%+), including internationally and offshore.

  • Have eligibility to obtain (or current possession of) a TWIC card.
