Job Description
Field Education Director for BSSW and MSW Programs, Post Campus
Key Responsibilities:
Placement Development:
  • Identify, recruit and develop a range of social work field education sites for BSSW and MSW student fieldwork placements
  • Ensure field experiences meet CSWE and New York State Education Department (NYSED) certification requirements, as appropriate
  • Ensure field education sites have competent and certified staff to provide effective supervision and a professional learning environment; a commitment to social work ethics, values, social justice, and training of social work. professionals, and a mission that includes service to diverse and at-risk populations
  • Complete the required institutional process to establish Affiliation Agreements between the clinical/agency/organization site and the University - and monitor these agreements

Student and Faculty Support:
  • Upon notification of acceptance into the BSSW or MSW program, work with students to ensure their understanding of field education, placement and fieldwork requirements and how these correlate to their desired field of professional social work
  • Confirm the student's eligibility and readiness for field and inform the student of field procedures and protocols
  • Provide guidance and support to students in preparation for placement interviews
  • Facilitate communication between students, faculty, and agency sites
  • Assist in resolving problems that arise during placements

Program Management and Administration:
  • Responsibility for the maintenance of the Field Education database (EXXAT)
  • Maintain records for agencies, instructors, and students
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, accreditation requirements, and program standards.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of field education policies and procedures.
  • Generate reports for accreditation purposes and licensure documentation
Monitoring and Evaluation:
  • Oversee and monitor all aspects of Fieldwork Education
  • Conduct site visits to evaluate field placement sites, as needed 2
  • Assist with student and agency evaluation processes and review evaluations from field instructors
  • Responsible for program outcome assessment utilizing SWEAP (Social Work Education Assessment Project) including management of the SWEAP portal, student data entry and ensuring assessments are distributed and returned to deadline
Other:
  • Create, review and update content for SIFI course
  • Proctor online SIFI course for supervisors requiring SIFI certification
  • Meet regularly with supervisors attending SIFI course
  • Review and update the Field Education syllabi and Student Field Manual (and Appendix)
Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited social work program with a minimum of 2 years post-master's social work degree practice experience
  • Experience in educational administration, preferably in higher education
  • Strong knowledge of CSWE requirements regarding Field Education in Social Work
  • Experience working in Field Education in higher education and/or as a field instructor
  • Proficiency with data management systems and digital platforms
  • Project management and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with various stakeholders
