Job Description Summary
The Mobile Health Unit (MHU) Access & Field Logistics Coordinator plays a vital role in expanding access to healthcare across South Carolina by ensuring the seamless delivery of mobile screening services. This multifaceted position combines transportation, equipment oversight, patient engagement, community outreach, and operational leadership to strengthen the impact and sustainability of the MHU program.
Under the supervision of the MUSC Orangeburg Breast Health Center Operations Manager, the Coordinator oversees daily MHU field operations and logistics, including travel coordination, scheduling, patient registration, and vehicle maintenance. Beyond logistics, the Coordinator serves as a frontline community ambassador-assisting in patient education, building partnerships, and identifying opportunities for program growth in underserved areas.

The Mobile Health Unit (MHU) Access & Field Logistics Coordinator plays a critical role in expanding access to healthcare services across South Carolina by ensuring the seamless delivery of mobile screening operations. This dynamic, mission-driven position combines logistics coordination, transportation management, patient engagement, and community outreach to enhance both the immediate impact and long-term sustainability of the MHU program.
Reporting to the MUSC Orangeburg Breast Health Center Operations Manager, the Coordinator oversees daily field operations, including travel coordination, scheduling, patient registration, and the maintenance and readiness of the mobile health unit and its equipment. The role requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as proficiency in data entry, record management, and basic reporting tools to support efficient and accurate operations.
Serving as a frontline ambassador for the program, the Coordinator actively engages with patients and community partners, providing education and building relationships that support increased access to care in underserved areas. Success in this role is strengthened by familiarity with health screening processes, medical terminology, or electronic health record (EHR) systems, as well as experience in program development, partnership-building, or grant-supported initiatives. Mechanical aptitude or experience managing vehicle maintenance further supports the Coordinator's ability to ensure operational continuity in a mobile healthcare environment.

Additional Job Description
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (associate or bachelor's degree in healthcare, public health, or related field preferred).
Credentials: Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record; At least 2 years of experience operating large vehicles; At least 2 years of experience in healthcare, patient intake, community outreach, or public health programs.
