Position Summary
As an Applications Engineer, you will provide engineering support to our sales and design teams, focusing on three-phase power, automation, and communication within low and medium voltage switchgear. You'll apply high-level engineering concepts to solve real-world challenges and help shape custom solutions for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide pre-order engineering support to the Sales and Quotations group.
  • Collaborate with design engineering, mechanical, and production teams to develop innovative solutions for unique applications.
  • Provide a high-level review of customer orders before handing them off to Design Engineering, making sure that order entry is correct and the information provided is complete including plans, specifications and CD&E from Sales as applicable. Provide comments as needed and point out discrepancies to ensure a smooth transition to Design Engineering.
  • Provide input to the Product Engineering team for continuous improvements of the IEM product guides.
  • Assist in building a library of standard design details, tools, and CAD resources for repeatable applications.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (NEC, UL, IEEE) during product and order evaluations.
  • Provide ongoing technical consultation to internal sales and engineering teams.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or other relevant engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in design, applications, or field service roles with a focus on power products.
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Switchgear design experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings and single line diagrams (SLD).
  • Strong understanding of three-phase electric power systems, including distribution, control, protection strategies, and rotating machines considered an asset
  • Familiarity with UL and IEEE standards (UL 891, 1558, 508A; IEEE C37.20, etc.) and the National Electric Code.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; self-motivated and able to work independently.

Compensation
The salary range for this role is $120,000 -$180,000 per year, based on location, experience, and qualifications.

This position is available in multiple locations, including Remote , Tualatin (OR), and Jacksonville (FL).
