How much do felon friendly jobs pay per year?

As of Jun 9, 2026, the average yearly pay for felon friendly in the United States is $66,535.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $52,000.00 and $81,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What does 'felon friendly' mean in a job listing?

'Felon friendly' in a job listing means that the employer is willing to consider hiring applicants who have a felony conviction on their record. These employers recognize that people with criminal histories can be valuable employees and are open to giving them a second chance. However, this does not guarantee employment; candidates are still evaluated based on their skills, experience, and the nature of their conviction. It's important to be honest about your background during the application process. Some positions may still have restrictions depending on the type of felony and the job requirements.

What types of roles and industries are most open to hiring individuals with felony convictions?

Many industries are increasingly open to hiring individuals with felony convictions, particularly those facing workforce shortages or that value diverse backgrounds. Common examples include construction, manufacturing, warehousing, food service, landscaping, and certain hospitality roles. Some employers also participate in 'second chance' programs or partner with reentry organizations. It's often helpful to look for companies that explicitly mention 'felon-friendly' hiring practices or have been recognized for inclusive employment. Networking with local workforce development agencies or career centers can also provide leads on opportunities tailored for job seekers with felony records.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in felon-friendly jobs, and why are they important?

To thrive in felon-friendly jobs, candidates need a strong work ethic, reliability, and the willingness to learn new skills, often demonstrated through previous work experience or vocational training. Familiarity with specific tools or systems may vary by industry, such as forklift certification for warehouse roles or basic computer skills for clerical positions. Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork are valued soft skills that help individuals stand out in these roles.
