Job description

Position Description: Compensation based on industry and/or shipping and receiving experience.Manage the shipping and receiving function of a large welding supply warehouse.
• Check in and send out freight via UPS, Fed-Ex, and various other common carriers.
• Examine contents and compare records (manifests, invoices, orders) to verify accuracy of incoming/outgoing shipments
• Determine shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates
• Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages/discrepancies for reporting, accounting and recordkeeping purposes.
• Communicate with vendors when shipping discrepancies occur and report them to accounting and inventory controller
• Enter data and process information for all incoming and outgoing freight using a computer terminal
• Contact carrier representative to make arrangement and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
• Request and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock.
• Deliver materials to departments and bins via forklift or hand truck
• Properly pack, seal, label and affix postage to prepare materials for shipping
• Manage files and records on other office procedures
• Provide information to supervisors/co-workers, by telephone in written form, email or in person
• Perform other duties as assigned $19.00 - $21.00 Hourly
