Job description

The Opportunity

Are you a strategic thinker with strong financial acumen and a passion for building relationships within sales teams? If so, you'll thrive in our newly created Deal Desk Analyst role, where you'll have the opportunity to contribute to the development of a new team dedicated to supporting the federal space, while enhancing your expertise in pricing strategies and deal structures in a collaborative and empowering environment.

This includes working with the Field to maximize Nutanix revenues in deal structuring, recommending varying selling models, engaging with Finance to evaluate acceptable price points and investment accounts, collaborating with Product Management to understand varying product options to meet customer needs and understanding the entire customer ecosystem to ensure Nutanix can maximize its value and increase share in the market.

About the Team

The Deal Desk team at Nutanix is a newly created group about 2 years ago. This role is aimed at supporting the federal space, should be operating primarily out of Durham, North Carolina, and the surrounding areas of Alexandria, Vienna, and McLean, Virginia. This team embodies a culture of empowerment, open communication, and collaboration, emphasizing the importance of building trust with sales teams. The team's mission is to streamline deal structures and pricing strategies, ensuring alignment with the company's goals while maximizing customer satisfaction and fostering a positive work environment.

You will report to the Director, Deal Desk, who champions a leadership style focused on empowerment and open communication. The hiring manager believes in fostering a positive work culture and supports team members in making decisions within their scope. This role operates in a hybrid work setup, requiring the hire to be in the office two days a week to facilitate collaboration and engagement with the team and local sales leaders.

The travel requirements for this role involve minimal local travel, with an expected commitment of up to 30%. This travel primarily includes participation in quarterly business reviews and other occasional events that support engagement with federal leaders in the region, minimizing the need for frequent long-distance travel.

Your Role

  • Support sales teams by managing deal structures and pricing strategies, ensuring alignment with company policies.
  • Conduct daily deal financial reviews and pricing assessments to optimize sales outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with sales teams to build trust, handle escalations, and facilitate decision-making.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales ops, finance, and legal, to ensure compliance and streamline processes.
  • Facilitate weekly deal prioritization discussions with regional directors to enhance deal flow and support strategic objectives.
  • Provide regular reporting on deal pricing trends, discount targets, and process improvement opportunities.
  • Establish relationships within the federal governmental market to support tailored pricing strategies and compliance.
  • Achieve metrics such as a 24-hour SLA on deal responses and limit escalations to fewer than 5 per day by the end of the first year.

What You Will Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in deal desk, finance, pricing, bid desk, or sales operations.
  • Proficiency in Excel and strong financial acumen.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills with sales teams.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and execute tasks quickly.
  • Understanding of pricing structures, competitive pricing, and market trends.
  • Experience with federal governmental markets (preferable but not mandatory).
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and Clare ability to build dashboards.
  • Ability to handle escalations, problem-solve, and identify process improvements.

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an โ€œat-will positionโ€ and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
