Job description

***This job has preference to qualified local job seekers within 60 miles of our Axis Odessa, TX facility.
The Shop Technician, under direct supervision, is responsible for a variety of warehouse and general shop activities at the facility. Duties may include but not be limited to, blowout preventer (BOP) preparation and testing, some maintenance on machines, tools and/or equipment, movement and loading of materials and equipment throughout the facility, and perform general housekeeping duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Prepping and servicing BOPs.
  • Performing and documenting pressure tests for BOPs and other components after service.
  • Obtaining and maintaining an inventory of expendable materials and parts.
  • Organizing and maintaining the facility including the testing station and storeroom.
  • Assists with the loading and unloading of supplies and equipment.
  • Assist in cleaning the shop area, painting, and retrieving parts and tools.
  • May install and assist with general repair and maintenance work as needed.
  • Deliver and pick-up parts which could include pulling a trailer.
  • Operate a forklift and other material-handling equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education.
  • Must have valid, state-issued Class C driver license; CDL a plus.
  • Minimum one (1) year work experience in a warehouse, including material-handling with heavy equipment - BOP technician, operation and maintenance experience and forklift operator a plus.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and written in English.
  • Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Basic writing, math, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Mobility, enter areas by the use of ladders or other access devices up to 15 ft.; ability to bend, stoop, twist, stand, squat, crawl and walk.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Work is performed in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to interact with others in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Reliable telephone (cell phone) communication and transportation.
  • Able to clear pre-employment drug and alcohol and job-relevant screens.
