SENIOR INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER - FASTENERS

SOUTHFIELD, MI - WORLD HEADQUARTERS

NATURE OF WORK: The Senior Industrial Engineer - Fasteners reports to the AME director. Drive and manage Lear torque standards across all North America plants.   

 

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED (The following duties are typical for this classification.)

  • Audit/Track torque strategy across all NA plants in compliance with standard
  • Subject matter expert on all types of fasteners, threaded fastener, rivets
  • Drive innovations with fastening technology and automation
  • Fastening equipment hardware selection
  • MES data acquisition settings tracking and change request tracking
  • Lear torque standards updating and progression
  • Launch support, production support as issues arises with fastening
  • Meetings with customer on reviewing requirements, and production issues
  • Support the plants while working with corporate fastening engineers on new product
  • Leading torque training across plants to develop competence in all plants and support

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

  • Must be a self-starter, team player, work well with others, and have a positive attitude
  • Must be a creative thinker, results oriented, focused, and attentive to detail and accuracy
  • Subject matter expert on torque tightening strategies and their differences including multistep
  • Highly skilled at programing Atlas Copco controllers (legacy and current) like PF6000 and PF8 controllers using tightening and error proofing strategies like final angle, post view and self-tap
  • Expert on Atlas Copco torque equipment software like Tools Talk 2, Tools Net 8, Alture Optimize and Alture Maintain
  • Knowledgeable of networking basics. Open protocol, ethernet communication basics
  • Must have ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Self-driven and willingness to work long hours during installations, if required
  • Willingness to travel 50% of the time

 

EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • 5+ years of fastener Engineering experience
  • Knowledge of Manufacture processes and Tooling
  • Strong Knowledge of MS Office - especially Excel
