In business since 1999, Schlosser is a leader in the signage industry, and we are continuing to grow as a full-service provider throughout the Front Range and beyond. With more than 40 employees and projects ranging from single sign installations to hundreds of signs at a single location, we are actively looking to expand by hiring an Installer that is eager to learn. Position Summary:

The Designer is responsible for translating client concepts and brand requirements into pre-sale and production-ready sign designs, using industry-standard design software to create accurate, manufacturable artwork for a wide range of sign types. This role bridges creative design and technical production, working closely with sales, project management, and the fabrication team to ensure designs meet client expectations, comply with local sign codes and permitting requirements, and can be efficiently produced within shop capabilities. The ideal candidate combines strong visual design skills with attention to technical detail, including scale, material specifications, mounting methods, and file preparation for CNC routers, printers, and paint.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Pre and Post-sale Design

  • Process new design requests from sales department.
  • Communicate effectively with sales staff, customers, and other team members to verify accuracy of information.
  • Develop designs based on customer’s needs, budget, and best fabrication/installation practices.
  • Be able to identify and elaborate on the client’s design intent in relationship to our scopes of work.
  • Collaborate with the estimating department so job designs and budget are integrated.
  • Update drawings to reflect changes and revisions.
  • Communicate changes to appropriate team members.
  • Maintain accuracy between customer approved designs and production designs.
  • Create and maintain sign standards/brand guideline documents for multi-location or franchise wayfinding programs

Production Design

  • Maintain accuracy of design and add in-depth details for production of signage.
  • Understand and interpret drawings to add specifications to drawings as needed prior to production, including installation methods.
  • Develop and include internal information for fabrication purposes.
  • Create designs based on best practices as dictated by project management, production and installation teams.
  • Prepare take-off documents including materials and cut lists as requested.

Professionalism

  • Persistent communication with all internal customers to ensure timely handoff of deliverables.
  • Respond to inquiries and requests in a pleasant and timely manner.
  • Maintain professional behavior in and out of the work environment regarding staff, vendors, and clients. This includes emails, phone calls, written documents, meetings etc. that are representative of the company.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Operations, Sales, Marketing or ownership.
  • Attend safety and company-wide meetings as required.
  • Continuing education and training on software programs as required.
  • Stay fluent with design and industry trends.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Solid organizational and time management skills; ability to juggle multiple jobs at varying stages simultaneously.
  • Resourceful; can devise creative solutions to problems.
  • Identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems using logic and reasoning.
  • Background in manufacturing, industrial or production related design.
  • Knowledge and experience in fabrication; metalwork and/or signs.
  • Performs assigned duties with minimum supervision.
  • Proficient in Corel Draw, and knowledge of or willing to learn Solid Works.
  • Strong math skills, an aptitude for computer systems and apps, and acute attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge and experience in field measurements; scale provided photos for design purposes.
  • Demonstrate excellent document control and organization, digitally and physically.
  • Enjoy working in a fast paced and dynamic work environment.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • Must pass pre-employment drug test and background check.
