Help Shape the Future of Commercial Farm & Ranch Insurance!
At American Family Insurance, we're looking for an experienced product leader to drive profitable growth, product innovation, and customer-focused solutions within our Commercial Farm & Ranch business.
In this role, you'll blend strategic thinking, market insights, pricing expertise, and cross-functional leadership to influence the future of our products and customer experience. You'll work closely with underwriting, actuarial, distribution, analytics, compliance, and product teams to identify opportunities, solve complex business challenges, and bring innovative solutions to market.

$99,000.00 - $167,000.00

Primary Accountabilities

Product Strategy & Portfolio Management

  • Develop and execute product strategies that support growth, profitability, and customer needs.
  • Identify market opportunities through competitive analysis, customer insights, and industry trends.
  • Define product roadmaps and prioritize initiatives that deliver meaningful business value.
  • Recommend pricing, product, and underwriting strategies to improve portfolio performance.

Product Development & Innovation

  • Lead product development initiatives from concept through implementation.
  • Partner across product, underwriting, actuarial, technology, and operations teams to design and deliver solutions.
  • Apply innovation and experimentation techniques to validate ideas and bring new products and enhancements to market.
  • Drive continuous improvement and modernization efforts across the product portfolio.

Profitability & Business Performance

  • Analyze product performance and identify drivers of growth, retention, and profitability.
  • Evaluate market, customer, and operational data to recommend business actions.
  • Monitor performance against key business objectives and support achievement of profit and growth goals.
  • Participate in rate revision and product enhancement initiatives.

Leadership & Influence

  • Lead complex cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members.
  • Build partnerships with internal stakeholders and external partners to achieve business objectives.
  • Influence decision-making through data-driven recommendations and business insights.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
  • Demonstrated experience developing insurance product/line of business strategies.
  • Extensive knowledge of leveraging customer, market, and competitor intelligence.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with lean innovation, agile or other development/innovation approaches.
  • Extensive knowledge of market research and marketplace and regulatory trends.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of product design, pricing and product management.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of advanced financial and data analysis techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects in product development and product management.
  • Demonstrated experience with profit and loss accountability. Demonstrated experience in driving to results in one or more of the following areas: sales, product lines, claims, or other core business functions.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and leading large complex projects or programs with a cross-divisional impact toward intended results.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of root cause analysis and processes.

This experience is held in person at our Madison, WI Headquarters or one of our AmFam core locations to help you connect with our mission, meet key team members and build relationships that support your growth. At times, sessions may be delivered virtually based on scheduling and availability.

In this hybrid role, you will be expected to work a minimum of 10 days per month out of the Madison, WI, Boston, MA or Denver, CO offices.
