Job description

Job Description: We are looking for a funeral director and embalmer to complete all day-to-day activities at Families First Cremation & Funeral Care located in Savannah GA. Above all, we are searching for a motivated team player who wants to be part of a tight-knit group. The funeral director will assist families with exemplary customer service skills and ensure all family needs are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in all daily activities at the funeral home, including but not limited to arrangements, services, and removals as needed, embalming, dressing, casketing
  • Counsel with and coordinate arrangements with families and other third parties to carry out selected funeral, cremation and cemetery services with care and compassion
  • Develop and maintain the necessary knowledge to explain the benefits, present all options and assist with the selection of all products and services offered to families
  • Execute and finalize all financial arrangements for purchases of merchandise and services selected by families, including securing payment in accordance with company policy
  • Assist with conducting, set up and preparation of visitations, funeral and memorial services
  • Follow all administrative policies and procedures related to the deceased, and ensure that all required paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Maintain necessary licensure and/or other certification to meet any local, state, or federal regulations
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable company policies and procedures, and ensure that they are carried out at all times
  • Assist in transferring of cremated remains and packaging and preparation of urns/keepsakes according to industry best practices
  • Participate in the general upkeep of the building, grounds and cars, including light housekeeping to keep the facilities and grounds in perfect order. This includes keeping work areas tidy, picking up litter on the grounds and general straightening up as needed
  • Take on additional or new responsibilities and tasks as assigned by the Manager
  • Contribute to a strong team, help families and develop a great culture!
  • If applicable: Perform embalming of decedent and cosmetology according to industry standards and practices, technical, safety and sanitary requirements
