Position Overview

The Overnight Fall Prevention Aide provides attentive, non-medical care and supervision during overnight hours (10:00 PM – 6:00 AM) to ensure the safety and well-being of clients at risk of falls. This role focuses on maintaining a safe environment, offering reassurance, and providing supportive care to promote client independence and peace of mind.

The Aide will observe, assist, and respond promptly to clients’ needs throughout the night while following company policies, safety protocols, and care plans.

Essential Functions
  • Provide overnight monitoring to reduce the risk of falls, injuries, and unsafe movements.

  • Assist clients with transfers, repositioning, and mobility support (as needed, per care plan).

  • Offer personal support such as toileting assistance, hygiene, and comfort measures during the night.

  • Maintain a safe environment by ensuring pathways are clear, lighting is adequate, and assistive devices are accessible.

  • Observe and report any changes in client condition, behavior, or environment to the supervisor.

  • Provide companionship and reassurance, helping clients feel safe and supported throughout the night.

  • Assist with basic household tasks (light cleaning, tidying, laundry, or meal/snack preparation, if needed).

  • Document observations and activities in the client’s care record to maintain continuity of care.

  • Follow all HIPAA guidelines and company policies regarding client privacy and safety.

Skills/Qualifications
  • Strong observation and quick response skills to prevent falls and accidents.

  • Ability to remain alert and attentive throughout overnight shifts.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, especially with elderly clients.

  • Knowledge of safe transfer and mobility techniques.

  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to provide emotional support.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.

Education/Experience Requirements
  • CNA, HHA, or equivalent caregiving experience preferred.

  • Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, and TB test (or willingness to obtain).

  • Successful completion of background check and drug screening, with random checks thereafter.

  • Physical ability to perform required duties, including safe lifting and assisting with mobility.
