Job Description
The Sherwin-Williams Finance internship is designed to provide you with hands-on experience in Cost Accounting
The internship features a singular accounting experience, where you'll learn how we establish strategy, procedures, and policy around accounting processes.
You will gain meaningful exposure to the processes and technology that drive financial results for the business, all while developing the skills necessary for a successful finance or accounting career.
This internship program is scheduled to begin June 22, 2026 and is designed to last at minimum 12 months. It will focus on supporting the Architectural Paint side of the business.
This role's schedule is typically between 15-28 hours per week during the school year, and 37.5 hours per week during the summer (M-F 8:30AM-5PM).
Because this role involves access to confidential financial information, the Company has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and to provide similar protections for its clients and potential investments.
Responsibilities
This position will be responsible for assisting the Global Cost Accounting department in daily functions of new product adds, cost quotes, and new product reporting. The individual will have an opportunity to learn about the various cost components that make up the finished goods Sherwin-Williams takes to market. Specific areas of focus will include raw material and conversion costs for Paint Stores Group (PSG), Consumer Brands Group (CBG), and/or Performance Coatings Group (PCG) businesses in North America.
Essential duties include:
• Daily development of new product costs that are being taken to market
• Complete product cost quotes for Sales & Marketing to seek new business or manufacturing alternatives
• Adhere to specified timelines for cost development
• Assist group with the annual standard cost development process
• Create and/or maintain costing procedure documentation
• Streamline costing processes where applicable
• Help to assess and explain production variances or costing errors
• Assist with ad hoc projects
• Monitor and process cost hold items
• Prepare daily or weekly reporting on PIM status and cost holds to be utilized by Cost Accounting Team
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
• High school diploma
• Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future.
• Must be enrolled in a college or university, pursuing a college degree with a focus in Finance or Accounting at the time of the internship
• Willingness to work all scheduled hours, including overtime as needed, with or without reasonable accommodation
Preferred Qualifications
• Be a rising or current Junior or Senior in college or university at the start of the internship program
• Have prior school or work experience in finance, accounting, or business
• Have at least one (1) year of experience using Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, and/or Outlook)
• Have previous experience working in a team-oriented setting including work experience, extracurricular activities, military service, etc.
• Previous experience in the Sherwin-Williams Corporate Finance Internship Program
