Job description

What You'll Do

At Principal, we're looking for a creative, organized, and strategically minded Social Media Brand Strategist to join our Global Brand & Experience Center of Excellence.

We're seeking a hands-on social media expert who understands how brands win on social platforms through compelling content, smart activation strategies, and a deep understanding of audience behavior.

In this role, you'll help shape how Principal and Principal Asset Management shows up across social channels, translating thought leadership, campaigns, events, business priorities, and subject matter expertise into engaging content and social media strategies that drive impact. You'll partner across marketing, communications, creative, and business teams to help elevate our social presence while advancing social media adoption and understanding across the organization.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and execute social media strategies that strengthen and grow the Principal and Principal Asset Management brands.
  • Create and manage social content across LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and emerging platforms.
  • Own portions of the content calendar, from concept development through activation.
  • Create, review, and optimize content to ensure creative quality, platform alignment, and audience engagement.
  • Translate thought leadership, campaigns, events, and business priorities into social-first content opportunities.
  • Provide strategic recommendations on how and where content should be activated for maximum impact.
  • Monitor platform trends, algorithm changes, and social media best practices to continuously improve performance.
  • Partner with stakeholders across the enterprise, providing guidance and recommendations grounded in social media expertise.
  • Support live event coverage and on-site content creation opportunities, including video and real-time storytelling.
  • Analyze social media performance and deliver regular insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Help establish and advance social media standards, education, governance, and best practices across Principal.

Who You Are
  • 5+ years of experience in social media strategy, content creation, and project management.
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms, content formats, audience engagement, and platform algorithms.
  • Experience creating and managing content for a brand, organization, or agency.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, deliverables, and deadlines.
  • Strong creative instincts and experience developing engaging visual, video, and written content.
  • Confidence to influence stakeholders, provide strategic direction, and advocate for social media best practices.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience using social media management and analytics tools such as Sprinklr.
  • Curiosity for emerging trends, platforms, technologies, and social behaviors.
  • B2B marketing experience is a plus.

Success in This Role

You enjoy developing ideas, but you're equally passionate about bringing those ideas to life through compelling content and thoughtful execution. If you're passionate about storytelling, content creation, social media innovation, and building a brand that creates meaningful impact, we'd love to hear from you.
