As an F&I manager, your job is to manage the financing and insurance department of an automotive dealership. In this role, you may help a customer finance their vehicle, tell them what special sales or offers their car qualifies for, and persuade them to purchase add-ons like additional service or extended warranties. As the manager of the F&I department, you may also oversee a team of other employees, make the final decision on each customer offer, and decide whether or not to approve certain loans. You may negotiate directly with customers to try and get the best value for your dealership. F&I refers almost exclusively to the automotive industry—other loan and insurance jobs, including those at banks and credit unions, have different titles.
