Job description

As an R&D Process Engineering Technician, you operate equipment to develop and test plastic containers & related tooling. Our R&D Center in Jackson Center, OH leads product development of containers for top consumer brands. In this role, you will contribute to Plastipak's high quality standards ensuring equipment is working efficiently, monitoring production processes and making adjustments or troubleshooting as needed.

You Will

  • Perform & monitor necessary setting adjustments such as machine programming, heat controls, cooling water temperatures, pressures and functioning of extruder and hydraulic pumping units.

  • Perform quality control checks and help maintain customer requirements according to specification. Make adjustments to correct and/or eliminate defects.

  • Perform mold changes and set ups as required within scheduled mold change timeframes utilizing in-process and setup sheets.

  • Coordinate mold set-up activities with production schedules to minimize downtime and maximize production efficiencies.

  • Troubleshoot mold problems and mold process issues, develop root cause and provide a quick permanent corrective action.

  • Perform preventative maintenance on machines and auxiliary equipment as assigned.

  • Join with your team to identify continuous improvement opportunities focused on safety, reliability, quality & scrap reduction.

You Have

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent with 2+ years working experience; Associates in Mechanical Technology or equivalent preferred.

  • Proficient mechanical, electrical or other technical/machine operation experience

  • Working knowledge of extrusion or blow molding equipment is preferred

  • Ability to work OT when needed
