POSITION SUMMARY

The Extrusion Manager is responsible for providing guidance, support and mentorship to all employees in the Extrusion department. This position is also responsible for achieving short and long-term strategic goals to ensure growth of the department and organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following description of work to be performed by this individual is not intended to be all-inclusive. Rather, it focuses on the major tasks that must be accomplished.

  • Ensure that safety is always the number one priority at Alexandria Industries; promote and support a safe work environment and safety oriented culture by following all safety programs and guidelines
  • Exhibit active leadership in order to model and support the company’s vision and strategies
  • Continuously build relationships throughout the department and company in order to best serve and support co-workers and employees
  • Ensure the department has the tools and resources to keep other departments informed of any delays or changes in scheduled arrival times of products required by the department
  • Work with the Plant Manager to manage the department’s labor and expense budget and ensure expenses are within the budget
  • Provide leadership to department team members:
    • Communicate priorities and project assignments
    • Develop and implement adequate cross-training
    • Provide continuing education, training and development opportunities
    • Provide coaching to employees to support their grow within their position and the company
    • Ensure expectations and responsibilities are known and followed
    • Monitor employee performance and assist with employee performance reviews
    • Delegate special projects
  • Participate in the interviewing and selection process for department openings as needed
  • Identify and implement methods for reducing costs and expenses in the department
  • Review and analyze department data and trends to make continuous improvement recommendations
  • Oversee continuous improvement initiatives in regards to revenue generation and top die performance
  • Partner with the extrusion supervisors to manage work schedules
  • Respond to emergency situations during and after standard hours to resolve issues that may arise
  • Develop and implement department goals and key measures that align with the mission, vision and values of the organization
  • Prepare for and participate in the development and preparation of capital requisition projects
  • Develop and oversee department project planning
  • Partner with various managers and teams to continuously analyze and ensure the quality of aluminum extrusions meets company standards
  • Support and improve quality systems and expectations
  • Partner with other Alexandria Industries facilities to manage and monitor extrusion capacity, and help to appropriately distribute work when needed
  • Review and submit employee time sheets bi-weekly and PTO requests as needed

OTHER JOB DUTIES

  • Perform all other related assignments (including special projects) as required in a professional and cooperative manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Education:
    • Associate or bachelor’s degree in business management, Engineering, or related program
    • Green Belt or Black Belt certification is preferred.
  2. Experience:
    • 5+ years of manufacturing experience required
    • 5+ years of Aluminum Extrusion experience required
    • 5+ years of leadership experience required
  3. Other required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Strong computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
    • Ability to recognize safety concerns
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to provide strong servant leadership to support team members
    • Ability to take part in continuous education and training
    • Ability to interact at a high level with all levels of the organization
    • Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in every situation
    • Strong knowledge and understanding of all key extrusion department components
    • Ability to use logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions
