Job description

Focus/Objective
The Extrusion Operator Assistant supports plant operations by assisting in machine set-ups, helping maintain production standards, and ensuring safe and efficient workflows.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Adjust, calibrate, and test equipment at the beginning of every shift to ensure proper pressure, speed, temperature and general operation.
  • Examine visually, weigh and measure components created from equipment at the end of the week to ensure machines are produced according to company and industry regulations and standards, adjusting as needed.
  • Work with team members, shift supervisors and all necessary personnel to take care of complications as they arise
  • Communicate with fellow team members to learn of any equipment problems or malfunctions and take care of them as they come up.
  • Use regulated cleaning solutions, grease guns, oil cans, air hoses and cleaning cloths to properly maintain and clean equipment on a bimonthly basis.
  • Make repairs to equipment when necessary, and replace all defective, broken or worn-out components.
  • Choose and install cutters, molds, and all other necessary equipment parts so machines are always operating at peak efficiency.

Requirements
Preferred Skills/Qualifications & Education:
  • 12 to 24 months of experience as an Extrusion Machine Operator Assistant or related experience
  • Successfully completed all requirements from the respective Extrusion Operator Check sheet
  • Able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Experience or ability in mentoring and training
  • Self-directed and independent with strong communication skills

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Environmental, Health & Safety Responsibilities:
  • Exemplify EE Dallas QB Inc.'s safety culture in everyday activities.
  • Gain a thorough working knowledge of EE Dallas QB Inc. Environmental, Safety & Health (ESH) policies and procedures.
  • Follow all EE Dallas QB Inc. facility and corporate ES&H procedures and practices.
  • Attend and actively participate in facility ESH meetings and forums that will drive employee involvement.
  • Participate in JSA's, and other site safety reviews.
  • Complete all required ESHA training in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure equipment used in the extrusion process is operated properly and all safety mechanisms and guards are in place.
  • Understands how to handle machines properly during an emergency, which includes power outages, machine failure, workplace injuries, etc.
  • Follows plant safety procedures and guidelines; informs supervisor of safety issues; reports any workplace injury or incident immediately; wears and utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Mentors other machine operators and inspector-packers on safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Understands and performs Lock-out/Tag-out procedures and how to mentor this topic to other employees.

Quality Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for ensuring regulations and company quality procedures are followed in the performance of your job
  • Responsible for maintaining good housekeeping in your work areas.
  • Responsible for maintaining all Quality documents assigned to your job are properly completed following our GMP & BRC standards.
  • Responsible completing all Quality training to maintain the ability to do your job following our SOPs.
  • Responsible for actively participating in GEMBA walks when called upon to do so.
  • Ensures that all products manufactured on assigned machines are within Company quality limits; immediately recognizes quality issues and acts; operates at or below Company scrap targets
  • Ensures grinder is functioning properly
  • Assists with in-line inspection when necessary; completes any re-inspection that is ordered due to quality issues from assigned line

  • Ability to perform general to advanced machine maintenance
  • Must be "fit for duty".
  • I must be able to lift to 80 pounds at a time.
