POSITION SUMMARY
The Operations Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing our trucking operations across multiple regions. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient, safe, and cost-effective movement of freight while maintaining high standards of customer service and regulatory compliance
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION
  • Oversee daily trucking operations across terminals, dispatch, routing, and fleet management to ensure on-time delivery and service excellence
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of terminal managers, dispatchers, and drivers. Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and performance
  • Ensure payroll accuracy for assigned drivers
  • Champion a safety-first culture
  • Manage a fleet of trucks and trailers, ensuring optimal utilization, maintenance scheduling, and compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations
  • Own operational budgets, cost control, and performance metrics. Identify opportunities to improve margins through efficiency and innovation
  • Expedite the billing process by managing user discrepancy queue
  • Leverage TMS (Transportation Management Systems), telematics, and analytics tools to drive visibility, automation, and decision-making
  • Partner with sales and customer service teams to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met or exceeded
  • Serve as an extension of Sales to expand business revenue by exploring all opportunities with Customers
  • Participate in all service-oriented calls for accounts/customers
  • Ensure all operations comply with federal, state, and local transportation laws and safety standards. Lead safety initiatives
  • Support or lead initiatives related to network optimization, sustainability, capacity planning, and expansion
  • Demonstrate a consistently positive and professional demeanor, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment
  • Encourage constructive dialogue for the team, even during periods of change or challenge
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity. Uphold confidentiality standards in all communications and decisions, ensuring trust and compliance with organizational policies and legal requirements

Requirements
OTHER SIGNIFICANT JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE
  • Maintaining regular and reliable attendance, along with being available in an on-call status
  • Comply with company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
  • High School diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience in the transportation or logistics industry, often starting in roles like dispatcher, driver manager, driver, or logistics coordinator
  • Proficiency in TMS platforms, route optimization tools, and data analytics
  • Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and safety protocols
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field
  • 3+ experience in operations management, ideally within the trucking or freight industry

REQUIRED SKILLS (TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.)
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with others, promoting a team environment
