Position Highlights
This 4-H Extension Assistant II position supports the delivery and coordination of educational and community programs for 4-H Youth Development audiences under the direction of the 4-H Agent. The position utilizes approved 4-H curricula and educational resources to implement club and county-wide programming focused on positive 4-H Youth Development and life skills. This role conducts outreach to community partners, supports volunteer engagement, and assists with coordination of county-wide 4-H events including the county fair. The position assists 4-H faculty with non-routine situations by interpreting and applying established guidelines, procedures, policies, and practices.

Duties & Responsibilities
Program LogisticsCoordination:
- Deliver supportfor Cooperative Extension educational programs, workshops, seminars, andcontests delivered through extension offices in Arizona communities, inassigned focus areas such as agriculture, youth development (e.g., 4-H),natural resources, family and consumer sciences, or community development.
- Coordinatelogistical details for extension educational programs, workshops, seminars, andcontests in assigned focus areas, including reserving rooms, arrangingequipment, and organizing materials.
- Confirm eventdetails with presenters, staff, and community partners, and communicateschedules and expectations to participants.
- Prepare andorganize materials and supplies so programs begin on time and run smoothly.
Outreach and Community Communication:
- Carry outroutine outreach activities, such as distributing flyers, sending emailinvitations, and posting program updates on websites and social media, toinform local residents about extension offerings in assigned focus areas.
- Respond toparticipant and community inquiries about program offerings, eligibility, andregistration, and route more complex questions to extension professionals orfaculty.
- Maintaincontact lists for participants, volunteers, and partners to support ongoingcommunication.
Administrativeand Session Support:
- Provideadministrative support for public extension information sessions and communitypresentations, including preparing agendas, sign-in materials, handouts, and basicaudio-visualneeds.
- Support on-sitedelivery of events by greeting attendees, managing sign-in, andassisting facilitators with materials during sessions.
- Help ensureaccessibility and a welcoming environment for diverse participants.
Data Trackingand Documentation:
- Monitor andtrack attendance, program metrics, and participant feedback for extensionprograms using established forms and databases.
- Compile routineevaluation data, basic statistics (such as counts and percentages), andparticipant comments to support internal reports and outreach assessments.
- Maintainorganized records of events, outreach activities, and participant lists forfuture reference and reporting.
Volunteer and Participant Scheduling:
- Coordinateschedules for volunteers and participants to ensure adequate coverage forextension program operations and community events across Arizona counties.
- Confirmassignments, shifts, and instructions with volunteers in advance of events.
- Track volunteerhours and participation for program documentation and recognition.
Knowledge, Skillsand Abilities:
- Knowledge ofyouth development programming, community education, or Extension-basedprogramming principles.
- Ability toeffectively communicate with youth, parents, volunteers, and community partnersboth verbally and in writing.
- Ability toplan, organize, and coordinate multiple program activities and events,including large public events such as county fairs or youth showcases.
- Skill incommunity outreach and public engagement, including school visits,presentations, and tabling events to promote programs.
- Ability torecruit, engage, and maintain positive working relationships with volunteersand community partners.
- Ability to workindependently while following established policies, procedures, and programguidelines.
- Strongorganizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records, manageschedules, and coordinate program logistics.
- Proficiencywith standard office and communication software including Microsoft Office andAdobe applications and digital communication platforms.
- Ability toadapt to changing program needs and manage competing priorities in acommunity-based program environment.
- Ability totransport and move program materials and supplies for events, outreachactivities, and county fair operations.
- Ability to workoccasional evenings and weekends to support youth programs, volunteeractivities, and county events.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency isrequired.
- Three years of relevantexperience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with youth development programs, after-school programs, or school-based enrichment activities.
- Familiarity with 4-H programs, positive youth development principles, or Extension education.
- Experience conducting community outreach, tabling events, or public engagement activities.
- Experience supporting or working with volunteers.
- Experience using social media or digital platforms for program outreach and communication.
