Job description

Position:Extended Care Aide (Adult 18+)

Classification: Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

Schedule: Weekdays between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM(If interested, we also offerMorning Extended Care shifts before school)

Primary Reporting Relationship:Extended Care Director

Secondary Reporting Relationships:Elementary Assistant Principal

Ministry Areas: Bay Area Christian School - Extended Care(Program Details)

Interfaces: Students, parents, administrators, staff, and other stakeholders as appropriate

Job Purpose:The Extended Care Aide will assist with the BACS Extended Care (EC) program by monitoring student safety, assisting with homework and creative play, and supporting the basic needs of students in the program.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provides assistance with the supervision of students in the extended care program

  • Provides for the appropriate care of school property and ensures that students use equipment and facilities properly

  • Develops and maintains a behavior management policy that is friendly, fair, firm, compassionate, and consistent in a positive, structured, yet flexible childcare environment

  • Presents a role model that sets the example for the development of good citizenship and godly character (models Christ in speech, actions, and attitude, able to point children to Jesus, and promote the cultivation of spiritual growth)

  • Provides assistance with setup and cleanup for extended care activities

  • Extended care class leaders will maintain close, continued, and professional communications with parents

  • Adheres to school policies for staff and faculty

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Previous working experience in a childcare or educational setting with supervision of students preferred

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ability to reason logically and make sound decisions, to consider alternative and diverse perspectives, tocommunicate effectively both orally and in writing, to remain poised under all circumstances, and to interacteffectively with people in a positive manner that engenders confidence and trust

  • Ability to complete assigned tasks without direct supervision

  • Must be able to move around the cafeterias to monitor students and staff regularly

  • Must be able to regularly remain stationary at the computer, requiring repetitive finger movements and manual dexterity

  • Must possess the ability to observe details at close range required for viewing a computer monitor, preparingand analyzing data and figures, transcribing, and reading

  • Must possess the ability to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction; possess theability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make discriminations in sound

  • Must possess the ability to express ideas using the spoken word to convey instructions to staff, students, parents, and other stakeholders accurately, loudly, and/or quickly

  • Must be accountable and reliable to maintain fiscal responsibility at all times

  • Activities occur inside and outside, and the worker is subject to both environmental conditions
