Job Description

Summary:

The Manufacturing Systems Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving manufacturing equipment, test systems, and supporting infrastructure. This role ensures high equipment uptime through preventive maintenance, rapid response to downtime events, and continuous improvement of system reliability. The position includes a mix of mechanical, electrical, and basic network/IT support for production systems.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Equipment Maintenance & Reliability

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) on manufacturing and test equipment

  • Inspect, calibrate and service systems to ensure consistent performance and reliability

  • Track PM completion, document findings, and update maintenance records

  • Identify wear, failure trends, and recommend improvements to extend equipment life

Troubleshooting & Repair

  • Diagnose and repair down equipment, minimizing production impact

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system issues

  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions

  • Escalate complex issues and coordinate with engineering when required

System & Process Support

  • Support setup, installation, and commissioning of new equipment and systems

  • Assist in validation, testing, and debugging of production and test systems

  • Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to improve system performance

  • Support change implementation and configuration updates

IT / Network Support (Light Industrial IT)

  • Maintain connectivity of production equipment (ethernet, basic networking)

  • Troubleshoot system communication issues (PCs, test stations, etc.)

  • Support system imaging, software updates, and user access as needed

  • Interface with IT teams for escalations involving infrastructure or security

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and drive improvements to reduce downtime and increase throughput

  • Support automation initiatives and system upgrades

  • Maintain spare parts lists and participate in inventory planning

  • Contribute to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and knowledge base development

  • Design, document and assemble fixtures and test equipment

Job Qualifications:

  • Associates degree or equivalent repair/maintenance experience in Electronics, Mechatronics, Industrial Technology, or related field

  • 3+ years of experience in equipment maintenance or technical support in a manufacturing environment

  • Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting

  • Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation

  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
