Job Description: Human Resource Manager

Location: Bergen County, NJ


A premier manufacturer specializing in high-performance cosmetic and personal care products is seeking a strategic HR leader in Bergen County, NJ.


Role Overview

The Human Resource Manager will own day-to-day HR operations and employee relations for a fast-paced formulation and packaging facility. You will oversee workforce planning, employee onboarding, payroll administration, benefits management, compliance, and safety within a high-output production environment. This role requires managing both hourly production staff and corporate teams while serving as a key business partner on all human resources matters.


Key Responsibilities

  • Workforce Planning: Align factory headcount with fluctuating seasonal manufacturing demands.
  • Employee Onboarding: Lead and manage the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a seamless transition into the organization and compliance with all new hire documentation requirements.
  • Payroll Administration: Oversee payroll processes to ensure timely and accurate compensation while maintaining compliance with applicable wage and hour laws.
  • Employee Benefits Administration: Manage employee benefit programs, including enrollment, open enrollment activities, employee communications, and coordination with benefit providers.
  • Leave Management: Administer FMLA, ADA accommodations, workersโ€™ compensation, and other employee leave programs in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Compliance & Safety: Maintain strict adherence to GMP, FDA cosmetics regulations, OSHA standards, and employment law requirements.
  • HR Audits: Conduct and support internal and external audits related to payroll, benefits, I-9 documentation, personnel records, and employment practices.
  • Performance Management: Design evaluation frameworks optimized for multi-shift manufacturing environments.
  • Employee Relations: Provide guidance and support to managers and employees regarding workplace concerns, investigations, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
  • Retention Initiatives: Implement engagement programs tailored to a diverse manufacturing workforce.
  • HR Generalist Functions: Manage day-to-day HR operations including policy administration, employee record maintenance, compliance reporting, training coordination, handbook updates, and other HR-related initiatives as needed.


Qualifications

  • Experience: 6+ years of progressive HR management experience, preferably within a nutraceutical or cosmetics manufacturing,
  • Background: Proven experience managing employee relations, payroll, benefits administration, leave management, compliance, and HR operations in a manufacturing setting.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of payroll administration, employee benefits, FMLA/leave administration, employment law, workplace investigations, compliance audits, shift scheduling, line management compliance, and workplace safety.
  • Preferred: Professional HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR) preferred.
