Job description

Director, Mobility & Executive Concierge Solutions Engineering

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Mobility & Executive Concierge Solutions Engineering to lead the strategy, architecture, and engineering of Vanguard's mobile technology platform. This role owns two connected mandates: driving Vanguard's mobile device capabilities at enterprise scale (iOS/iPadOS, Android, and tablet platforms managed through Microsoft Intune and Workspace ONE), and engineering the technology solutions that deliver a friction-free experience for senior executives who depend on iPads and mobile devices to lead the firm. The ideal candidate pairs deep modern-management and automation expertise with the architectural and product vision to design seamless, secure, executive-grade mobile solutions - all within a highly regulated, production-grade environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Define and own the multi-year strategy and engineering roadmap for Vanguard's mobile platform - iPhone, iPad, and Android - including modern management, security baselines, and a seamless user experience.
  • Engineer and advance mobile device capabilities: zero-touch provisioning, app lifecycle and configuration management, BYOD, Conditional Access, and zero-trust controls that protect the firm without burdening the user.
  • Design and develop the technology solutions that make the executive experience frictionless - automated configuration, integration, and self-healing capabilities that eliminate friction from how executives use iPads and mobile devices.
  • Architect and govern Mobile Device / Unified Endpoint Management (MDM/UEM) platforms - Microsoft Intune and Workspace ONE - ensuring compliance, resiliency, and a consistent experience across the mobile fleet.
  • Partner with Cybersecurity, Identity, and Risk to deliver secure-by-design mobile and executive solutions that meet regulatory and audit requirements while preserving a frictionless experience.
  • Drive automation and "infrastructure-as-code" practices across the mobile estate to scale capability delivery and reduce manual engineering effort.
  • Instrument the platform with telemetry, Digital Employee Experience (DEX) tooling, and fleet-health analytics so experience quality is engineered and measured, not assumed.
  • Govern high-risk change (OS upgrades, security baselines, major platform shifts) with disciplined, evidence-based controls that balance modernization velocity with stability.
  • Evaluate emerging mobile and endpoint technologies and incorporate them strategically into the workplace technology stack.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of managers and engineers; build platform leaders, succession depth, and a culture of engineering ownership, reliability, and excellence.
  • Serve as a senior point of partnership and influence with executive stakeholders - communicating roadmap, technical risk, and investment needs in clear, business terms.

What it takes:

  • Proven experience leading technical engineering teams at scale in mobility, endpoint, or workplace technology domains within a large, regulated enterprise.
  • Deep, hands-on engineering expertise in modern mobile management - iOS/iPadOS and Android - using Microsoft Intune and/or VMware/Omnissa Workspace ONE.
  • Demonstrated track record architecting and delivering mobile technology solutions for high-visibility or executive user populations, with measurable improvements in experience and reliability.
  • Strong command of mobile security and identity engineering: Conditional Access, zero-trust principles, app protection, device compliance, and Microsoft Entra (Azure AD).
  • Hands-on background in automation and scripting (PowerShell, Graph API) and modern engineering practices.
  • Experience governing change, risk, and resiliency in a production-grade, audit-sensitive environment.
  • Excellent executive communication, stakeholder management, and people-leadership skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience engineering technology solutions for C-suite or board-level user populations, including travel-ready and event/briefing-center mobile capabilities.
  • Familiarity with the broader Microsoft 365 ecosystem (Teams, Exchange Online, SharePoint) and how mobile integrates into the modern workplace.
  • Advanced automation, API integration, and tooling skills to streamline provisioning, compliance, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of mobile telemetry, DEX platforms, and fleet-health analytics.
  • Experience in financial services or another highly regulated industry.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft 365 Certified, Apple Deployment/Device Management) are a plus.
