Job description

Location: Stamford, Connecticut; located in Southeast Connecticut, an area rich with professional, education, cultural, and recreational opportunities, with easy access to New York City, Hartford, and Boston

Reports to: President & Chief Executive Officer, Andrew H. Banoff

Direct Reports: 200 FTEs, Including Directors of Dining, Resident Activities, Facilities and Health Center

Mozaic Senior Life is seeking an Executive Director to help lead the organization through its next chapter of growth, transformation, and long-term sustainability, specifically launching the new Independent Living Concept in Stamford. This is a rare opportunity to step into a mission-driven, high-performing organization at an inflection point—one that combines the heart of human services with the rigor of a complex, multi-business enterprise. With a $30M operating platform, consistently high census, strong board engagement, a diversity and depth of services and programs, and a major Life Plan Community development underway in Stamford, Mozaic Senior Life is evolving from a single-campus healthcare provider into a diversified, multi-site organization that increasingly blends healthcare, hospitality, and community-based services. The Executive Director will be responsible for ensuring the stability and success of Mozaic Concierge Living and Mozaic at Home. The Executive Director has the ultimate authority over and management responsibility for all functional areas of the Life Plan Community and the CCRC at Home Program. The Executive Director ensures compliance with all current industry standards, regulations, and guidelines.

  • Implement mission, vision, and goals of the organization.
  • Carefully manage and ensure occupancy remains above plan through continuous community marketing and providing top-level service to existing residents.
  • Provide strategic input, planning, and leadership on issues affecting the organization.
  • Ensure development of sound programs, best practices, policies, and procedures relating to marketing, public relations, resident services, fiscal/budgetary matters, health care services, facilities management and development, risk management, quality assurance, hospitality and first impressions.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Provide timely and accurate analyses, reports, and recommendations to Mozaic Senior Life concerning the operation of the Life Plan Community and CCRC at Home Program.
  • Plan, direct, and evaluate the activities of Department Directors.
  • Effectively communicate with the residents, associates, and all other constituencies.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and operate the Life Plan Community and CCRC at Home within the budget guidelines.
  • Represent the Life Plan Community and CCRC at Home and build relationships within the geographic area, the community and industry.
  • Administer employee policies and procedures. Develop, maintain and periodically update written policies and procedures and job descriptions. Orient staff and train on policies and procedures.
  • Attend in-service classes and staff meetings.
  • Continue to develop job-related knowledge, skills, and abilities by participating in continuing educational opportunities for personal growth and development.
Criteria

STRATEGY & VISION: Proven experience as a CEO, President, or senior executive with full P&L responsibility, strategic vision, and business discipline. Strong track record of operating as a strategic thought partner to senior leaders and Boards through growth and expansion, while ensuring and maintaining organizational and financial sustainability. Ideally, this experience will include significant time spent in high end hospitality and/or senior living.

ORGANIZATIONAL MANAGEMENT: Track record of effective executive and people leadership with strong financial and operational management skills and expertise, ideally held accountable for utilization/capacity targets.

STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT: Proven ability to lead and inspire high-performing teams, work effectively with senior leadership and a Board of Directors, and build strong partnerships across a range of internal and external stakeholders.

RESIDENT EXPERIENCE DELIVERY: Demonstrated ability to consistently deliver a high-quality, personalized resident experience that is grounded in empathy, responsiveness, and service excellence. Proven track record of anticipating resident needs, exceeding expectations, and creating memorable, service oriented interactions. Brings a proactive, “white-glove” service mindset and is effective at orchestrating a seamless experience across all touchpoints by partnering cross-functionally (i.e. dining, housekeeping, activities, etc) and upholding consistently high service standards.

MISSION ORIENTATION: Passionate about Mozaic Senior Life’s mission to assure seniors the health care, housing, and community services required to achieve the highest possible quality of life reasonably attainable for them. Embodies and demonstrates Mozaic Senior Life’s culture of compassion.

INNOVATION & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: Leverages innovation to design, implement, and evolve systems and processes that drive sustainability, scalability, and efficiency.
