Job Description
An Executive Protection Driver is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of high-profile individuals and their assets by providing secure transportation and maintaining a high level of situational awareness. This role requires a high level of professionalism, physical fitness, defensive driving skills, and excellent situational awareness. Executive Protection Drivers are expected to respond swiftly and effectively to potential security threats while maintaining a low profile.
Area: New York, NY
This role is a 1099 independent contractor position.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Safely transport the principal(s) to and from residence (Bergen County) and work (Somerset County) in the morning and then again in the late afternoon hours.
  • Provide personal protection to high-profile clients by assessing potential security risks and implementing protective measures.
  • Maintain a clean and mechanically sound vehicle for secure transportation.
  • Possess advanced defensive driving skills to avoid potential threats, accidents, or hazards.
  • Conduct thorough advance planning to identify potential security threats and establish security protocols, including route planning, security sweeps, and emergency response procedures.
  • Physically escort and protect clients during daily activities, such as meetings, travel, and public appearances.
  • Monitor all environments for potential threats, suspicious activity, or individuals who may pose a risk to the client's safety.
  • Be prepared to respond to security incidents and emergencies, including medical emergencies, security breaches, or hostile encounters.
  • Plan and analyze routes to minimize exposure to potential risks.
  • Maintain knowledge of alternate routes and traffic conditions.
  • Maintain effective communication with the client and team members to ensure smooth operations and security coordination.
  • Safely operate and maintain vehicles used for client transportation and security, ensuring they are secure and in good working condition.
  • Keep the vehicle stocked with essential items, such as first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and emergency tools.
  • Be trained and authorized to carry concealed firearms and ensure compliance with all local and state laws regarding firearms.
  • Ability to build and maintain appropriate and effective working relationships with client and ensure their comfort and trust in the security team.
Work Experience:
  • Prior experience in executive protection
  • Prior New York police law enforcement experience
  • Appropriate state or local licensing, including concealed carry permits, if required.
  • Excellent physical fitness and firearms proficiency, if applicable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Discretion and the ability to interact professionally and respectfully with people.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed under high-stress situations.
  • Knowledge of security protocols and emergency response procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability.
  • Discretion, professionalism, and a commitment to confidentiality.

Training and certifications:
NYS Security Guard License (armed)
First Aid
CPR
Defensive tactics
HR 218 a plus
EMT Certification
