Promotes a culture of well-being while strengthening the organization's prevention of and response to predictable sources of workplace stress, burnout, and trauma. This includes enhancing access to behavioral and mental health resources, reducing stigma, improving help-seeking behaviors, and supporting psychologically healthy work environments. Provides executive oversight for the Well-being Clinician Team, ensuring workforce mental health programming, consultation services, educational offerings, referral processes, and psychological support resources are evidence-based, consistently delivered, and aligned with the Center for Workplace Well-being's strategic priorities and Enterprise goals related to employee experience. Provides executive oversight of the Stress First Aid and Peer Support Programs, ensuring consistent implementation, quality, and continuous improvement across the enterprise. Guides the development of innovative in-person and virtual well-being programming, consultation services, stress management resources, and educational offerings that address the evolving needs of the MUSC workforce. Partners with the Enterprise Chief Well-being Officer, Executive Director of Enterprise Well-being Strategy & Operations, and clinical and administrative leaders across the MUSC Enterprise to implement, evaluate, and advance the Center for Workplace Well-being's strategic priorities. Provides specialized expertise and consultation on healthcare workforce mental health, workplace well-being, and evidence-based organizational interventions. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Clinical and Programmatic Leadership – 20% Directs enterprise mental health and well-being programming for MUSC employees, learners, faculty, and leaders. Provides advanced subject matter expertise in healthcare workforce mental health, burnout, psychological safety, trauma-informed care, behavioral health interventions, and evidence-based well-being programming.Provides specialized clinical consultation to the Enterprise Chief Well-being Officer and organizational leaders regarding workforce mental health, behavioral health programming, and complex employee and learner support needs.Collaborates with the Medical Director – Faculty Well-being to align faculty mental health and well-being strategy, programming, research, and evaluation across the university.Oversees development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of enterprise behavioral health programs and services. Ensures all programming reflects current evidence, professional standards, ethical practice, and emerging research. Mental Health and Well-being Programs and Services – 25% Provides executive oversight of the Well-being Clinician Team through the Program Manager – Well-being Clinician Team.Provides executive oversight of MUSC's Enterprise Peer Support Program and Orange Huddle through the Program Manager – Stress First Aid & Peer Support.Oversees the development and evaluation of workforce mental health programs, consultation services, and educational offerings.Establishes standards for program quality, educational resources, and service delivery across the enterprise.Oversees enterprise processes for psychological triage, referral coordination, and integration with workforce support resources.Identifies emerging workforce mental health needs and directs program improvement initiatives. Enterprise Behavioral Health Vendor Oversight – 20%Provides executive operational oversight of MUSC's Employee Assistance Program vendor (Lyra Health). Serves as the Center's primary operational liaison with Lyra Health, leading operational meetings, quarterly business reviews, and performance evaluations.Monitors utilization, engagement, quality metrics, service outcomes, and quarterly business reviews. Identifies emerging workforce mental health needs and recommends enhancements to services and programming. Collaborates with Lyra and internal stakeholders to implement workshops, educational programming, behavioral health resources, and enterprise initiatives. Ensures seamless coordination between Lyra Health, Center programming, Employee Health, Graduate Medical Education, Human Resources, and other workforce support resources. Evaluates vendor performance and recommends operational improvements to the Enterprise Chief Well-being Officer. Enterprise Consultation – 15%Provides consultation to executive leaders on workforce mental health, burnout prevention, psychological safety, and organizational interventions. Partners with leaders to assess workforce needs using engagement, burnout, turnover, quality, safety, and other relevant data. Directs the Center’s response to supporting departments experiencing elevated stress, critical incidents, organizational change, or other workforce challenges. Recommends evidence-based strategies to strengthen workforce well-being and organizational resilience. Quality, Safety, and Workplace Violence Prevention – 10%Serves as the Center's clinical lead supporting Enterprise Quality & Safety and Workplace Violence Prevention initiatives. Leads development and implementation of evidence-based psychological support following workplace violence and other critical incidents. Partners closely with System Quality & Safety, Nursing, Security, Risk Management, and the System Chief Operating Officer's Office to integrate behavioral health expertise into workforce safety initiatives. Evaluates effectiveness of post-event interventions and recommends improvements. Scholarship and Dissemination – 10%Leads scholarly dissemination of the Center's mental health and behavioral health programming. Collaborates with the Medical Director for Research and Grants to identify, develop, and implement research and grant opportunities.Develops abstracts for regional and national conferences. Collaborates on peer-reviewed manuscripts, implementation of science publications, white papers, thought papers, and educational resources. Maintains awareness of emerging evidence and incorporates best practices into enterprise programming. Contributes to regional and national dissemination of the Center's work through presentations, professional collaborations, and scholarly activities. SCOPE, PURPOSE, AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS: Frequent interaction with executive leaders, faculty, department chairs, organizational leaders, healthcare professionals, learners, employees, community behavioral health partners, and external vendors across the MUSC Enterprise. DIRECTION/SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Enterprise Chief Well-being Officer EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Successful completion of a doctoral degree (PhD, PsyD, or EdD) from an accredited program in psychology, counseling, social work, behavioral science, or another related social service field required. Substantial experience providing direct clinical intervention, consultation, program development, and leadership required. Minimum of 8 - 10 years working in healthcare space, preferably in mental health and well-being, employee engagement and/or leadership development. Minimum of 5 years of experience leading teams. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: Experience working in a major academic medical center or similar healthcare related environment. Significant experience and subject matter expertise with workplace mental health and healthcare well-being, burnout, employee engagement, leadership development, employee relations and certifications in worksite well-being, coaching and mental health highly preferred.
