Job Description

The Opportunity: 

We are seeking a highly collaborative, discreet, and integrity-driven Executive Protection Manager to join our Global Security & Investigations team. This role is responsible for leading global executive protection and protective intelligence efforts supporting senior leadership, while proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating security risks across travel, workplace, residential, and event environments. The ideal candidate is an experienced risk management professional who combines sound judgment, operational excellence, and strong interpersonal skills to build trusted partnerships across the organization and with external stakeholders worldwide. This position requires a strategic yet hands-on leader capable of managing complex security operations, coordinating crisis response activities, and driving continuous improvement in executive protection programs, policies, and training while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality, collaboration, and ethical conduct. 

What Your Impact Will Be: 

EP Security Operations and Emergency Response 

  • Partner with internal stakeholders, Executive Assistants, Human Resources, Facilities, Legal, Travel, and other cross-functional teams to ensure safe, secure, and seamless operations related to executive workplace safety and security initiatives. 
  • Lead executive workplace physical security monitoring and response in coordination with overall site security team.   
  • Manage C-suite emergency response protocols and ensure readiness for security incidents involving senior leadership. 
  • Engage closely in global crisis management efforts, including emergency response, executive protection and communications during incidents. 
  • Develop and implement incident detection, escalation, and resolution policies aligned with Global Security operations. 
  • Provide strategic oversight for executive protection incidents, while collaborating with operational teams responsible for daily execution. 

Risk Assessment, Protective Intelligence and Threat Management 

  • Conduct threat, vulnerability, and risk assessments related to executives, residences, workplaces, events, and travel associated with executive protection operations. 
  • Perform protective intelligence activities, including social media and open-source monitoring, insider threat evaluations, executive threat profiling, and pre-incident indicator analysis, independently and in coordination with Global Security Intelligence and Corporate Communications teams. 
  • Develop and implement tailored security plans, risk mitigation strategies, and protective measures supporting executive protection operations globally. 
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of executive protection policies, standards, procedures, and best practices aligned with corporate security objectives and industry standards. 
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor on executive protection, protective intelligence, and threat management matters across the organization. 
  • Build and maintain relationships with external industry partners, security providers, intelligence resources, and law enforcement agencies to support threat identification, risk mitigation, and executive safety initiatives. 

Executive Travel Security 

  • Conduct advance security assessments for domestic and international travel, particularly in elevated-risk environments, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending appropriate protective measures and security protocols. 
  • Develop and implement executive travel security plans, contingency procedures, and emergency response protocols for travel and special events. 
  • Plan and coordinate travel security arrangements for senior leadership (SVP and above) when traveling to high-risk locations, including transportation, accommodations, medical support, and emergency response resources. 
  • Coordinate with internal department members, international security providers, law enforcement, hotels, transportation vendors, and internal stakeholders to support safe and secure executive travel globally. 
  • Maintain real-time awareness of travel risks, geopolitical developments, civil unrest, crime trends, and other emerging threats that may impact executive movements or business operations. 
  • Provide protective intelligence support and travel briefings to executives and key stakeholders prior to travel. 

Policy Development, Compliance, and Governance 

  • Develop, implement, and maintain global executive protection policies, standards, procedures, and governance frameworks aligned with legal requirements, corporate policies, and industry best practices. 
  • Utilize intelligence analysis, operational metrics, and data-driven insights to enhance protective operations, risk mitigation, and program effectiveness. 
  • Maintain accurate and confidential documentation related to executive protection operations, incident reporting, threat assessments, travel security activities, and risk mitigation efforts. 
  • Ensure executive protection programs and operational practices align with enterprise security frameworks, corporate risk management objectives, and broader Global Security strategies. 
  • Develop and support long-term initiatives to strengthen executive protection capabilities, operational readiness, and integration with global security programs. 

Vendor and Security Program Management 

  • Manage third-party executive protection vendors, including vendor selection, contract oversight, performance management, and the development of standardized KPIs to ensure service quality, operational effectiveness, and risk mitigation. 
  • Coordinate on the selection, management, and operational oversight of CCW (armed security) providers, ensuring alignment with Global Security standards, executive protection requirements, and applicable legal regulations. 
  • Support executive protection-related procurement activities, budgeting, and expense management in accordance with Mattel policies and financial controls. 

Training and Program Development 

  • Develop and deliver executive protection training programs focused on protective operations, threat recognition, situational awareness, emergency response, and security best practices. 
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and support the professional development of executive protection personnel, drivers, and security analysts. 
  • Establish continuous improvement initiatives, training standards, and career development pathways to strengthen overall executive protection program capabilities and operational readiness. 
  • Partner with Global Security leadership to support executive and C-suite Workplace Violence Prevention Program (WVPP), active threat, and crisis response training initiatives. 

Leadership and Organizational Impact 

  • Manage Security Analyst’s responsibilities for threat monitoring, protective intelligence, risk analysis, and executive protection planning. 
  • Oversee executive driver operations and executive protection vehicle resources in coordination with Executive Assistants and other key stakeholders. 
  • Collaborate with GSOC leadership and operational teams to support executive protection operations, intelligence sharing, incident response, and monitoring capabilities. 
  • Partner with regional and international Global Security leadership to coordinate executive travel security and regional executive protection programs globally. 
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) and trusted advisor to leadership on executive protection, threat management, and protective operations. 
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, coaching, and professional development opportunities for security professionals and analysts. 
  • Maintain a professional executive-level appearance and demeanor, serving as a positive representative of the Global Security organization and a role model for the team 

Reporting and Communication 

  • Provide daily and weekly reports and briefings to senior leadership on plans, incidents, risk assessments, and executive protection operations. 
  • Maintain strong communication and effective collaboration with executives, Executive Assistants, internal stakeholders, and external security partners to support seamless protective operations. 
  • Prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive security assessments, intelligence summaries, and risk analyses to support informed decision-making and operational planning. 
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of security incidents within Mattel’s Security Incident Management system, including oversight and quality review of subordinate reporting, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives. 

Continuous Improvement 

  • Benchmark security practices against peer organizations, industry leaders, and government security standards through participation in professional organizations and partnerships. 
  • Conduct post-incident and monthly operation reviews to develop corrective action and continuous improvement plans.  
Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in related fields such as Criminal Justice, Security Management, Business Administration or other fields.    
  •  Minimum 5 years in executive protection, corporate security, military, or law enforcement; and 3 or more years of managerial or supervisory experience.  
  • Skills: Strong collaborative leadership skills and team management.  Deep observational, analytical, and crisis management abilities; expertise in security, communication and collaboration technologies.  Open-source Intelligence analysis, Strong communication ability both written and verbal.    
  • Attributes: Professional demeanor, discretion, adaptability, confidentiality, and integrity in handling sensitive information.    
  • Certifications: Proficiency in first aid, defensive driving, evasive driving 
  • Ability to navigate and manage under high stress situations. 
  • Travel Requirements: Willingness, availability and ability to travel frequently and on short notice. Adaptable to work evenings weekends and on holidays depending on need. 

Preferred:  

  • CCW certification 
  • Specialized certification in security or protection:  Examples could include Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Executive Protection Specialist (EPS) or similar international certifications.  
  • Global experience, multi-lingual and a strong geographic understanding.
