Job Description -
Project Executive
Job Summary
Melink Solar is a nationally recognized leader in commercial solar EPC services and the Midwest's #1 Commercial Solar EPC since 2023. The Project Executive (PE) is a execution leadership role within the Operations organization, responsible for driving consistent, high-quality delivery across assigned project portfolios.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the PE ensures that project execution aligns with operational strategy, financial targets, safety standards, and customer commitments established at the organizational level. This role focuses on portfolio-level execution leadership, escalation management, and development of Senior Project Managers-while the Director of Operations retains ownership of overall operational strategy, resourcing, and organizational performance. The ideal candidate resides in the Midwest region, preference for candidates willing to relocate to Cincinnati, OH.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Execution Leadership
  • Provide senior oversight of assigned project portfolios, ensuring projects are executed in alignment with operational standards, schedules, budgets, and quality expectations established by Operations leadership.
  • Translate operational strategy and priorities from the Director of Operations into consistent execution practices across portfolios.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for Senior Project Managers on complex execution, sequencing, constructability, and delivery challenges.
  • Lead executive-level project reviews for high-risk or high-visibility projects, elevating issues to the Director of Operations as needed.

Financial & Commercial Stewardship
  • Ensure accuracy and accountability in project-level forecasting, cost-to-complete, margin performance, and revenue recognition within assigned portfolios.
  • Review and challenge project financials prepared by SPMs to ensure predictability and early risk identification.
  • Support contract administration, change management, and claims strategy at the project level.
  • Escalate portfolio-wide financial risks or trends to the Director of Operations for resolution and strategic direction.

Client Leadership & Escalation
  • Act as the senior execution sponsor for key projects and strategic clients within assigned portfolios.
  • Lead executive-level client conversations during escalations, recovery efforts, or complex negotiations.
  • Reinforce transparency, accountability, and trust through consistent delivery performance.
  • Coordinate closely with the Director of Operations on sensitive client matters or contractual risk.

People Leadership & Development
  • Directly manage and mentor Project Managers.
  • Set clear expectations for execution excellence, accountability, and leadership behaviors.
  • Support performance evaluations, development planning, and promotion readiness for SPMs.
  • Contribute to hiring decisions for execution leadership roles in partnership with the Director of Operations.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, safety, and continuous improvement within project teams.

Process, Quality & Risk Discipline
  • Ensure consistent application of Melink Solar's project execution standards, including risk management, QA/QC, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Lead portfolio-level lessons-learned reviews and support implementation of improvements directed by Operations leadership.
  • Monitor safety and quality performance across portfolios and escalate systemic risks or trends.
  • Reviewing subcontractor scope of work, subcontract creation, and contract negotiation within our C&I portfolio.
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, and Safety teams to reinforce compliance and execution discipline.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence and guide senior project leaders.
  • Deep understanding of EPC execution, construction sequencing, and project controls.
  • Proven experience managing multiple complex solar projects or portfolios.
  • Financial fluency in forecasting, margin analysis, and cost controls.
  • Exceptional communication and escalation management skills.
  • Ability to balance autonomy with alignment to operational leadership.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in solar EPC or large-scale construction.
  • Demonstrated success leading Senior Project Managers or equivalent roles.
  • PMP required or equivalent executive project leadership experience.
  • NABCEP certification strongly preferred.
  • Electrical or engineering background preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to travel regionally across the Midwest (roughly 25%)
  • Ability to traverse and inspect job sites in various weather conditions, including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to typical construction site hazards.
