Position Summary

The Cable Puller – Data Centers is responsible for installing, routing, securing, and labeling structured cabling systems that support mission-critical data center infrastructure. This role works closely with project managers, lead technicians, and installation teams to ensure copper and fiber optic cabling is installed safely, accurately, and in accordance with industry standards and project specifications. The Cable Puller plays a key role in supporting new construction, expansions, upgrades, and maintenance of high-availability data center environments.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Pull, route, and install copper, fiber optic, and low-voltage cabling in data center environments.
  • Assist with rack and stack installations, cable dressing, termination preparation, and cable management.
  • Install cable trays, J-hooks, ladder racks, conduit, and other cable support systems.
  • Label, bundle, and organize cabling according to project documentation and industry standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, cable schedules, and installation drawings.
  • Assist with cable testing, continuity verification, and quality inspections.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of installed cabling and report completed work to supervisors.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and other installation equipment.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and site-specific requirements.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas throughout the installation process.
  • Work collaboratively with technicians, electricians, and other construction trades to meet project schedules.
  • Identify installation issues and communicate concerns promptly to the Lead Technician or Project Manager.
  • Support material handling, inventory management, and job site logistics as needed.
  • Travel to customer sites and work varying shifts, including nights or weekends, when required by project schedules.
 Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in structured cabling, low-voltage installation, construction, or data center environments preferred but not required.
  • Basic understanding of copper and fiber optic cabling systems is preferred.
  • Ability to read basic construction drawings and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, cable pulling equipment, and cable management practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality installations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in fast-paced project environments.
  • Excellent communication, reliability, and time management skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, work on elevated platforms, and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible schedules, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as project needs require.
  • OSHA 10 certification, BICSI Installer certification, or other industry certifications are preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to pass required background checks and comply with customer site security requirements.
