Job description

Network Infrastructure Architect
Network Infrastructure Architect
A growing, enterprise-level organization is seeking a Network Infrastructure Architect to serve as a strategic leader and hands-on technical expert across network, security, and telecommunications operations.
This is a "working manager" role-perfect for someone who can design long-term architecture while still diving into complex technical challenges. You'll have ownership over a global infrastructure environment and play a key role in shaping its future.
Why This Role Stands Out
  • High-impact position with ownership of network & telecom architecture
  • Balance of strategy (40%) + leadership (30%) + hands-on (30%)
  • Exposure to modern initiatives: Zero Trust, SD-WAN, hybrid cloud, UCaaS
  • Collaborative environment with a small, skilled team
  • Flexible hybrid schedule (negotiable)
What You'll Do
Architecture & Strategy
  • Design and evolve a high-availability, multi-region network infrastructure
  • Lead implementation of Zero Trust security architecture using Palo Alto technologies
  • Architect connectivity across on-prem and cloud environments (Azure)
  • Build and maintain a 3-5 year infrastructure roadmap, including modernization initiatives
  • Establish enterprise standards, governance frameworks, and compliance models
Voice & Telecommunications
  • Own the strategy for enterprise voice and unified communications platforms
  • Lead evaluation and migration to cloud-based telephony (UCaaS) solutions
  • Design WAN architecture, circuit strategy, and SIP infrastructure across locations
  • Manage telecom vendors, carrier relationships, and performance standards
Leadership & Execution
  • Lead and mentor a team of 2-3 network administrators
  • Oversee network and telecom projects including site migrations and upgrades
  • Serve as the final escalation point for critical infrastructure issues
  • Manage vendor relationships, budgets, and infrastructure investments
What We're Looking For
  • 8+ years of network engineering experience, with leadership or architecture exposure
  • Deep expertise in Cisco routing & switching (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, STP, etc.)
  • Strong experience with Palo Alto security platforms
  • Knowledge of VoIP, SIP, PBX systems, and telecom infrastructure
  • Experience with hybrid cloud and SD-WAN environments
  • Ability to balance big-picture strategy with hands-on execution

Preferred:
  • Experience with Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA)
  • Exposure to UCaaS platforms (Teams Voice, Webex Calling, etc.)
  • Network automation or scripting experience
  • Relevant certifications (CCNP, CCIE, Palo Alto, etc.)
The Ideal Candidate
You're someone who:
  • Has an architect's mindset but enjoys solving real-world technical problems
  • Can confidently communicate with both engineers and executive leadership
  • Thrives in a role where you can own decisions and drive infrastructure forward
  • Enjoys mentoring others while staying hands-on and technically sharp
Work Environment
  • Hybrid role based in Birmingham (Liberty Park corporate office)
  • Standard business hours with on-call responsibility for escalations
  • Fast-paced, collaborative, and growth-oriented environment
