Position/Job DescriptionGeneral Tasking Description
  • The candidate will provide engineering and technical support across the acquisition of lifecycle, supporting systems from early development through fielding.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct engineering and technical reviews supporting requirements development, managing technical configuration control, and developing objective quality evidence (OQE) to inform program leadership and ensure successful program execution.
  • Provide technical expertise as a naval architect subject matter expert. A strong candidate will have experience designing and integrating machinery, hull form, propulsion, electrical systems, auxiliary systems, hydrodynamics, sea keeping and survivability, stability, structures, arrangements, habitability, outfitting, lifesaving and mooring systems, cargo handling systems, unmanned systems, C4I, aviation, combat systems, autonomy, electronics, and other technical areas as needed.
  • Perform engineering analyses of mission and performance requirements for UxV platforms and translate those into design direction, performance, configuration, space and weight, and arrangements. This includes feasibility studies; contract design activities; detail design and construction activities; independent design reviews; in-service ship integration; shipboard installation support; test and evaluation (T&E) support, and special studies.
  • Perform review and analysis as required to ensure UxV solutions are functionally balanced and integrated in regard to system distribution, seaworthiness, mission effectiveness, survivability, and overall performance. Also, identify possible alternative solutions and COAs for increased performance and/or cost savings.
  • Provide support for development and evaluation of shipyard proposals by participating in RFP requirements activities to ensure feasibility and maturity. The candidate will engage in pre-award meetings, pre-award surveys, and negotiations of support, and post-award conferences.
  • Support development and updates of the overall T&E strategy and Test Evaluation Management Plan (TEMP) by adjudicating comments from reviewers.
  • Provide evaluations, analysis, and recommendations regarding the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of overall proposals and integrated systems.
  • Support in the development of training materials, GFE documentation, GFI, and support Planning Yard Managers with GFI/GFE management.
  • Foster collaboration and relationship building within a multidisciplinary team of technical SMEs, management professionals, and industry stakeholders to drive project success through collective expertise.
Experience Requirements
  • 10+ years of professional experience in Naval Architecture.
  • Experience working with management, Government technical management, or Industry business management. DoD/DoN procedures and Policies (DoD 5000 process); US Navy procedures and processes; Supervisory experience; experience communicating with SES/Flag level personnel; ship building experience desired.
Educational & Certification Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, naval architecture or related field.
  • Master’s degree in engineering or naval architecture preferred.
  • Professional Engineer License preferred.
