Senior Scheduler

Location: Huntsville, AL (Marshall Space Flight Center)

Job Status: Full-Time

Join the NASA CPSS II team at Marshall Space Flight Center as a Scheduler Level 5 to support the Science and Technology Office (STO). This is your opportunity to contribute to the Artemis missions and shape the future of space exploration.
The Senior Scheduler is responsible for developing, managing, and optimizing project schedules in alignment with the NASA Schedule Management Handbook. This role supports projects of varying size and complexity by ensuring schedule accuracy, integrity, and visibility across the program lifecycle.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, monitor, and analyze Integrated Master Plans (IMPs) and Integrated Master Schedules (IMSs) for large and medium-scale aerospace, research, and development programs.

  • Lead the implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of integrated scheduling processes, tools, and methodologies.

  • Develop and maintain resource-loaded schedules that integrate scope, schedule, budget, and resource data within automated scheduling systems.

  • Perform schedule health assessments and probabilistic schedule risk analyses using industry-standard tools and techniques.

  • Ensure schedules accurately reflect program status, critical path activities, milestones, dependencies, and resource constraints.

  • Support Earned Value Management (EVM) implementation by integrating schedule performance with cost and technical performance measures in accordance with ANSI/EIA-748 guidelines.

  • Analyze schedule impacts resulting from changes in project scope, funding, resources, and technical requirements, and provide actionable recommendations to program leadership.

  • Utilize commercial scheduling and analytical software, including Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Acumen Fuse, and other project controls tools.

  • Provide subject matter expertise and technical guidance to project controls personnel on scheduling best practices, schedule integration, and risk analysis.

  • Mentor and coach junior schedulers and cross-functional project team members in scheduling methodologies, schedule analysis, and project controls processes.

  • Collaborate with program managers, engineers, project controls personnel, government customers, industry partners, and academic organizations to support integrated planning and execution.

  • Prepare schedule metrics, status reports, executive briefings, and analysis to support program reviews and decision-making.

  • Support management of program risks, opportunities, and mitigation planning through integrated schedule analysis.

  • May provide supervisory or management support for scheduling personnel and project controls activities.

Minimum Qualifications
  • BS/BA

  • Minimum of 15 years of applicable professional experience, including 13–15 years of direct aerospace, research and development, or government program scheduling experience.

  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and managing Integrated Master Plans (IMP) and Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) for complex programs.

  • Extensive experience with resource-loaded scheduling, schedule integration, and project controls methodologies.

  • Advanced knowledge of probabilistic schedule risk assessment, schedule health analysis, and critical path methodology.

  • Strong understanding of ANSI/EIA-748 Earned Value Management System (EVMS) principles and their application to schedule, cost, and technical performance.

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Acumen Fuse, and related scheduling and analytical software.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex schedule, budget, and resource data and communicate findings to senior leadership.

  • Experience mentoring schedulers and supporting multidisciplinary project teams.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with government, industry, and academic stakeholders in a collaborative environment.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain any required security clearance, if applicable.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP), or Earned Value Professional (EVP) certification.

  • Experience supporting NASA, DoD, or other Federal aerospace programs.

  • Experience leading integrated project controls and scheduling initiatives for large, complex development programs.

  • Previous supervisory or team lead experience within a project controls or scheduling organization.
