Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Director of Mobile & Platform Engineering to lead the strategy, architecture, scalability, and delivery of critical commerce technology platforms. This leadership role will oversee cloud-based middleware services and mobile engineering initiatives while partnering closely with Product, Design, Infrastructure, Security, and Data teams. The ideal candidate brings a blend of hands-on technical expertise, engineering leadership, and operational excellence within high-growth digital environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, technical strategy, and operational health of cloud-based middleware platforms.
  • Drive engineering best practices across backend services, APIs, distributed systems, and service-oriented architectures.
  • Ensure platform reliability, scalability, observability, and security during high-volume business events and traffic spikes.
  • Establish standards for performance optimization, caching, monitoring, incident response, and fault-tolerant design.
  • Oversee mobile engineering efforts, ensuring scalable, high-performing, and maintainable mobile applications.
  • Own release management processes, deployment strategies, and production readiness for mobile platforms.
  • Lead and mentor engineering managers and software engineers, fostering accountability, collaboration, and technical excellence.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks while balancing delivery speed with long-term platform sustainability.
  • Drive continuous improvement in architecture, code quality, testing, documentation, and operational readiness.
