Position Type: Full-time
About Us
Partners for Public Good is a nonpartisan team of doers who work alongside state and local governments to strengthen the operational systems-procurement, staffing, budgeting, and technology-that determine whether policy turns into results for residents. We go in alongside government staff through implementation, not just as advisors who deliver recommendations and leave, but as practitioners who stay until something has actually changed. Through our implementation work, applied research, and the Procurement Excellence Network-a practitioner community of more than 3,000 government professionals-we translate what we learn from individual governments into knowledge and tools that travel across jurisdictions. When government works, communities thrive.
Role & Organizational Impact
PPG is seeking an Associate, Executive Education to join our executive education team. This associate will design and facilitate trainings, lead cohort-based learning initiatives, and provide coaching to government leaders that helps strengthen the operational systems that shape how public dollars are spent and public services are delivered.
The Associate will utilize a strong training and facilitation background paired with a foundational knowledge of government needs to support project scoping for executive education initiatives, create highly engaging trainings, facilitate workshops and coaching calls with governments, and manage project timelines.
The ideal candidate understands the opportunities and constraints of public sector leadership and can translate that knowledge into engaging learning experiences that help government leaders solve real-world challenges.
At PPG, Associates drive the day-to-day delivery of programmatic projects, working closely with Project Leaders and Assistant Directors to turn strategy into action. This can include multiple and fractional projects across teams. They facilitate meetings with government partners, design and produce project materials, deliver trainings and coaching, and draft key deliverables and reports. Associates may work on one in-depth project or contribute across several short-term or fractional engagements, depending on portfolio needs.
While Associates contribute across a range of government operational topics, this role will primarily support executive education initiatives focused on public procurement and government operational excellence. Candidates with a background in procurement or contract management, or working knowledge of these areas, are encouraged to apply
Responsibilities
Learning Design & Curriculum Development
- Design engaging, learner-centered curricula for executive education programs serving state and local government leaders.
- Apply instructional design best practices and adult learning principles to create high-quality learning experiences across in-person, virtual, and hybrid formats.
- Develop participant materials, facilitator guides, presentations, case studies, simulations, assessments, and other learning resources.
- Translate complex policy, procurement, and operational concepts into clear, engaging, and actionable learning experiences.
- Continuously improve existing programs using participant feedback, facilitator observations, and learning data.
- Collaborate with partners, practitioners, and subject matter experts to develop relevant, evidence-based content.
Program Delivery & Facilitation
- Facilitate interactive workshops, peer learning events, and virtual trainings for government leaders.
- Create inclusive learning environments that encourage participation, discussion, and practical application.
- Lead small-group activities, simulations, coaching conversations, and debriefs that deepen participant learning.
- Adapt facilitation strategies in real time based on audience needs and group dynamics.
- Support executive education programs before, during, and after delivery to ensure an exceptional participant experience.
Project & Stakeholder Management
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high quality and meeting deadlines.
- Develop project plans, timelines, and workstreams to coordinate curriculum development and program execution.
- Build strong working relationships with governments, external partners, facilitators, and subject matter experts.
- Coordinate content reviews and incorporate stakeholder feedback while maintaining instructional quality and program goals.
- Support program logistics and cross-functional collaboration to ensure successful execution.
Learning Innovation & Organizational Growth
- Contribute to the development of new executive education offerings and learning products.
- Document and share lessons learned, tools, templates, and best practices across the organization.
- Represent PPG at conferences, convenings, and learning events as appropriate.
Who You Are
We're looking for candidates who are:
- Exceptional facilitators. You are skilled at designing and leading engaging, outcome-focused learning environments where senior leaders can learn from one another.
- Experienced public sector professionals. You have worked in government or spent time partnering with, training, or advising government leaders. You understand how government back-offices operate.
- Strong program designers. You know how to translate complex public sector topics into practical, interactive learning experiences that are relevant, engaging, and immediately applicable.
- Outstanding project managers. You can manage multiple complex projects, coordinate diverse stakeholders, and consistently deliver high-quality work on schedule.
- Trusted relationship builders. You build credibility quickly with government leaders, external partners, and colleagues and can navigate competing priorities while maintaining strong partnerships.
- Curious public sector innovators. You enjoy learning about emerging challenges facing government and identifying new ways to help public leaders build their knowledge, skills, and networks.
- Mission aligned. You believe strong government institutions improve people's lives and are energized by helping public sector leaders strengthen their organizations and communities..
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Three or more years of experience designing and facilitating executive education programs, workshops, professional education, conferences, or other learning experiences for adult professional audiences.
- Experience working in state or local government or in a role that involved significant partnership or interaction with government agencies.
- Strong project management experience, including managing multiple concurrent projects and coordinating cross-functional stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate engaging discussions with senior leaders and professional audiences.
- Excellent written communication and presentation development skills.
- Direct experience with public procurement, contract management, or experience supporting procurement functions strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with government operations, budgeting, finance, contracting, organizational change, or related public sector functions preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and virtual collaboration platforms.
- Willingness to travel approximately 6-8 times per year.
