What is an executive driver?

Executive drivers are professional chauffeurs responsible for transporting company executives, VIPs, or high-profile clients safely and efficiently. They typically operate luxury vehicles and ensure a high level of discretion, punctuality, and professionalism. In addition to driving, executive drivers may assist with scheduling, route planning, and providing security as needed. Their role often requires excellent knowledge of local areas, strong communication skills, and the ability to handle confidential information.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as an executive driver?

To thrive as an Executive Driver, you need a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, knowledge of local routes, and often previous professional driving experience. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems, luxury vehicle operation, and sometimes defensive driving certifications is important. Discretion, punctuality, and strong interpersonal skills set top candidates apart in this role. These skills ensure executives are transported safely, efficiently, and with the utmost professionalism, reflecting positively on the organization.

How does an executive driver coordinate with executives and their assistants to ensure timely and efficient transportation?

Executive drivers work closely with executives and their assistants to plan routes, adjust to last-minute schedule changes, and accommodate special requests. They often use real-time communication tools, such as messaging apps or direct phone calls, to receive updates and instructions throughout the day. Building strong, professional relationships with both executives and support staff is essential for anticipating needs and providing a seamless transportation experience. Flexibility and discretion are key, as priorities can shift quickly in a fast-paced corporate environment.

What is the difference between Executive Driver vs Chauffeur?

AspectExecutive DriverChauffeur

Work EnvironmentCorporate settings, private clients, luxury vehiclesLuxury vehicles, private events, chauffeur services
Employer & IndustryCorporations, executives, luxury transportation companiesLuxury transportation, private clients, event services

Both roles require a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Executive Drivers typically work for corporations or private clients, focusing on transporting executives securely and efficiently. Chauffeurs often work in luxury transportation or for private clients, providing personalized service. While the roles overlap in credentials and environment, Executive Drivers emphasize corporate and executive transport, whereas Chauffeurs focus on luxury and personalized service.

Job description

Overview

Pacific Retirement Services is seeking an experienced, highly trusted Executive Partner to the CEO to provide executive-level administrative, operational, governance, and project management support. This is a highly visible role in a formal executive environment requiring exceptional professionalism, executive presence, tact, discretion, and sound judgment.

This is not a traditional administrative support role. As a strategic business partner and trusted representative of the CEO’s office, you will help manage executive priorities, protect the CEO’s focus, support decision-making, coordinate Board governance, and ensure important work moves forward across the organization. You will also provide executive administrative support to the C-Suite, helping drive alignment, collaboration, and follow-through.

Work Location & Travel: This role is remote, with ideal candidates based in Oregon, Washington, California, or Arizona. Because this position works closely with the President & CEO, executive leadership, and Board, frequent onsite travel to the PRS Central Office in Medford, Oregon is an essential part of the role. Candidates must be able to consistently work within the Pacific Time Zone and should be located where travel to Medford can be accomplished via a single commercial flight. Frequent travel is required, and candidates must have a valid driver’s license, meet PRS driving eligibility requirements, be insurable, and be eligible to rent a car.

Wage: $114,000–$143,000, depending on experience and geographic location.

What You’ll Do: You will manage the CEO’s calendar, inbox, communications, Board functions, travel, confidential information, executive operations, and key projects with exceptional discretion, judgment, and follow-through.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a strategic partner and gatekeeper to the CEO, managing priorities, information flow, competing requests, and complex scheduling.
  • Anticipate executive needs by identifying issues, gathering information, preparing recommendations, and resolving routine matters independently.
  • Handle highly confidential business, personnel, financial, governance, and strategic information with discretion, diplomacy, and sound judgment.
  • Coordinate executive and leadership meetings, including agendas, briefing materials, presentations, logistics, action items, and follow-up.
  • Serve as the primary administrative liaison between executive leadership and the Board of Directors, coordinating Board and committee meetings, materials, records, minutes, logistics, and follow-up.
  • Prepare, edit, and coordinate executive communications, presentations, announcements, speeches, correspondence, and reports.
  • Track executive priorities, strategic initiatives, Board requests, and project deliverables to ensure accountability and timely completion.
  • Coordinate complex executive travel, itineraries, logistics, and expense reporting.
  • Support executive projects, research, leadership meetings, retreats, conferences, and special assignments on behalf of the CEO.
  • Partner with senior leaders, community leadership, administrative professionals, and external stakeholders to support alignment and execution.

What Success Looks Like: You are someone who thinks ahead, connects the dots, and brings order to complexity. You understand that exceptional executive support is not simply about completing tasks—it is about helping senior leadership operate at the highest level.

You will thrive in this role if you:

  • Anticipate needs and act proactively.
  • Exercise excellent judgment about when to act independently and when to escalate.
  • Manage competing priorities with accuracy, composure, and professionalism.
  • Communicate with confidence, clarity, tact, and exceptional executive presence.
  • Build trusted relationships while appropriately protecting the CEO’s time and priorities.
  • Bring structure, organization, and follow-through to complex, fast-moving work.
  • Represent the CEO’s office with polish, discretion, diplomacy, and impeccable professionalism.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of progressively responsible executive administrative experience supporting C-suite executives.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting CEOs, Boards of Directors, executive leadership teams, or comparable senior leadership environments.
  • Exceptional organizational, planning, project management, and prioritization skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and a highly polished, professional presence.
  • Strong business acumen, sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to anticipate needs and solve problems proactively.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, collaboration technologies, presentation software, and modern business applications.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license, insurability, acceptable driving record, and eligibility to rent a car.

Benefits: Working at PRS, you’ll enjoy a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your health, financial security, and overall well-being, including:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance with multiple plan options and employee premiums subsidized up to 100%.
  • Company contributions to a Health Savings Account, with funds that roll over and stay with you.
  • Company-provided life and AD&D insurance.
  • Paid Time Off, with the option to use PTO as you earn it or choose PTO+ for extra pay.
  • 401(k) with a 4% employer match.
  • Profit sharing plan based on company performance.
  • Voluntary pet insurance.

Why Join PRS? At PRS, you will join a mission-driven organization dedicated to service, leadership, and meaningful impact. This highly trusted and visible position offers the opportunity to work closely with the President & CEO and executive leadership team while supporting the future direction of the organization.

If you are a strategic, discreet, highly polished executive support professional who brings exceptional professionalism, presence, tact, and judgment to a formal leadership environment, we invite you to apply.

At Pacific Retirement Services, our mission is to empower people to lead meaningful lives as they age. Our vision is to shape a future where aging is embraced as an opportunity to thrive. Our work is guided by our core values: We Speak Up. We Step Up. We Lift Up. We Team Up.
