POSITION: Kitchen Utility Worker (On-Call)

DEPARTMENT: Food & Beverage

REPORTS TO: Executive Sous Chef/Executive Chef

FLSA STATUS: Part-time / Non-Exempt

VENUE(S): The Oncenter

PAY RATE: $17.06/hour (increases to $17.40/hour on 7/1/2026 per union contract)

HOURS: Schedule dependent on event needs; 0-30 hours a week

THE ROLE

As a Kitchen Utility Worker at The Oncenter, you will be responsible for performing all dishwashing tasks, and the overall sanitation in all areas of the kitchen and customer service area.All assigned tasks must be completed efficiently and in accordance with established guidelines to ensure quality and consistency standards are met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Wash all equipment and dishes in the kitchen, including, but not limited to, pots, pans, trays, and banquet service ware.

  • Ensure all dishes, pots, pans, and trays are clean when removed from automatic dishwasher.

  • Return all kitchen equipment to its proper storage area.

  • Maintain safe floors in kitchen and customer service work areas.

  • Thoroughly clean all hard tile floors periodically throughout the day, and at the end of the day, including food storage room, walk in cooler, and freezer room.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and stocked work area following sanitation standards.

  • Maintain a professional appearance, and professional relationship with coworkers at all times.

  • Provide total guest satisfaction through skilled and capable service in accordance with New York State laws and regulations as well as Company policies, practices, and procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Six months' experience in a food & beverage or warehouse environment preferred.

  • ServeSafe certification a plus.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

  • Professional appearance and attitude are essential.

  • Must be able to be on time for your shift and maintain reliable attendance.

  • Must be able to work and maintain standards in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must take direction well and work well individually and as a team.

  • Exceptional hospitality and customer service skills, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet service demand levels, including days, nights, weekends and holidays.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to walk/stand/sit for long periods of time.

  • Must have the physical ability to maneuver around the venue, at times walking and/or standing for 8-10 hours or greater, climbing stairs, lifting and carrying 50 lbs+, and frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting.

  • Must have the physical ability to bend, stoop, and maneuver around facility(ies), at times extensive walking and/or standing for 8-10 hours or greater as required.

  • Ability to exert well-paced mobility to move quickly to the different areas of the facility as demands require.

  • Ability to work in a noisy, fast-paced environment.
